Shohei not selected for MLB all star game in Franchise mode

i was playing LA Dodgers in Franchise mode. Shohei even though got the highest vote for SP and DH, last pitch 4 days before the MLB all star game, he was not even in the all star game during the actual day either as SP or DH. what did i do wrong that caused him not to be in the all star game?

It's possible because of MLB's "every team gets an all star" mandate that the logic in game decided someone else got the nod over Shohei at either or both spots

It's both that the game isn't good about selecting award winners (including all star selections) and the poor MLB rule about having 1 player from every team. I've had a pitcher 2 years in a row that was leading for Cy Young award and ERA crown that didn't get selected to ASG. I suspect it was because he didn't have the strikeout numbers of some of the top pitchers. But you saw it in MLB last year with CHC Suzuki leading NL in RBIs but didn't make the ASG, even as a replacement player.

I mean we've seen the Mets have the MVP runner-up (or did Soto finish 3rd this year, I know Lindor was runner-up year before) not make the All-Star Game
