A New 'New Threads' Program?

Of course, the 99 is a Yankee. Everyone else will probably be a 97 and worthless.

Mullins Rogers or Helsey for the Mets
Who will it be? Mets aren’t winning anything else so I need as many cards as I can get now

If they let the Guardians come to Citi Field , sweep & almost no-hit them, then you're right. Send them all packing. Send Mullins back, lol. He's been a dud so far.

Greg Soto most likely

I just don’t like the idea of giving a bunch of player 99s just because they got traded. Some are deserving (Duran, Naylor, Suarez) while others shouldn’t be given a diamond just because they happened to be traded. Oh well, it’s all make believe anyway
They listen to the god squadders a bit too much, who say everything has to be a 99 or the card is trash.
I agree with the notion that 99s at this stage of the year should be legends, or guys like Skenes/Judge/etc. Open the flood gates late in the year (I think the lesser finest they did in 2023 should absolutely be the norm, celebrate the guys that contributed for their team).
They really need to figure out a salary cap style mode so they can continue to release low 90s this late in the year.
Just for those keeping score at home (thanks to Dolenz research):
Ryan McMahon, at least 2 diamonds including a 99
Edgar Martinez and Gary Carter, 0 diamondsThis has for better or worse been the norm for the last 5-6 installments at least going back to 2020. The 99 floodgates open by the ASG and there is nothing you can do at that point to reverse course.
I think they did a really good job with the power creep this year until they hit that mid 90s diamond threshold. It's like we had 94s then within two weeks there were 98s already creeping in.

And then put them in packs and sell them for 25k in the show shop because hey new cards. I'm really not a fan of this years game. At this point there's no way McMahon should be a 99. 99 should be saved for elite players like Griffey/Mantle/ even Manny Ramirez.
2018 would have been right up your alley. Only 22 99s in the entire game.

Rogers is one of the few people in the trade deals that a 99 would be justified for

I wonder if this was because of all the people complaining about their inputs not mattering all year. Now people will have more hard hit balls so less complaining! (And yes, I know that's missing the point of the complaints...to a degree. The god squad type players really do seem to want everyone to hit like they are 110+ across the board when they are low diamonds)

Aww,c'mon man.some of us are still trying to forget that year ever happened

Gimme my 99 Duran Phillies card
-
We are at the point of the year where it’s fun with more useable cards, who cares if some of these guys don’t deserve 99s, it’s a fun program, people forget in the early days how little variety we had. I remember when there were like 9 guys all year that were diamond relievers so.

I stopped playing online for the year, the game is much more interesting when cards are not overpowered
Although they did have a thing against relievers this year for sure

Hahaha, ironically I think i only made it halfway through 2018, I hadn't really gotten into conquest yet so I didn't enjoy DD yet, 2019 was the year that really got me into MLB the Show.
I'm not opposed of having 99s i just don't think McMahon has done enough to deserve a 99. But I have loved the Finest sets the last couple of years and those are all 99s and deservedly so.
-
In the early days I think for 18 and 19 the only lefties were Chapman, Hader and Wagner. A gold Brett Cecil was the fourth best lefty in the game
-
There really is no excuse not to give a TON of relievers. They could justify a dozen at least. Toss them in the early part of the program, not the packs.
While I am not a fan of DQ I think it would be funny if the rewards were the Rogers twins
-
Ah, MLB 18 the year that made me quite faster than any other.
They Made Bob Gibson and Albert Pujols Immortals so they were unreachable for me and after they said, before release in the streams, that you would be able to grind offline for any reward they released an Immortal Stan Musial that required online play.
Three unreachable Cardinals and a stat grind that I got tired of really quickly pushed me over the edge.
I also think that was the year that they added Archetypes to RTTS so you could not choose where to put your earned points anymore.
-
You nailed it. By eliminating TA this time around and again with Finest, there is a major lack of playable content. Yea the cards are great but I have nothing to do and I don’t play anywhere near as much as a lot of others.
SDS- please recommit to Team Affinity and give us more to do there.

Playing with 99s can get boring because the players are created so similarly. Sub .250 hitters getting maxed or near-maxed CON L CON R and CLU with 90+ vision. e.g. Kyle Schwarber getting near Tony Gwynn-ish CON & CLU attributes. The players start to feel like they're wearing a skin that doesn't fit them at all.
