Content is in bad shape

I'm an old man, I remember when it was just a USA Conquest or play VS CPU as the only options for offline grinding.
It also reminds me of my old days playing Everquest where the devs would work for months on an expansion or a raid and see players blast through it in a weekend and start asking when the next one was coming out.
There are plenty of ways to play. Plenty of ways to advance the Inning XP path. They even added a repeatable conquest but it is just never enough. But that is the nature of the beast as it will never be "enough" for some player out there.
And let's be honest, people are actually saying that there is not enough content that grants rewards. Conquest is conquest regardless of the shape of the map or the teams you face. The only difference between a playing a new map and an old one is that the new map will have rewards.
I'm not against new content though and would be happy for everyone if they added more and I'm one of the first to say, as someone concentrating on his theme team this year, that TA content has been disappointing and, in my opinion, poorly planned.

They hit their quota for the year and are in cruise control
Yep, this game is just like every other sports game now, and it's a real shame. They essentially release the same game with minimal improvements to keep DD spenders happy. They throw a bone to RTTS or franchise players. There's no going back; the innovation is gone, and creativity is dead.
-
I wish they would add boss moments, even if it’s only 1k xp per boss, it would be fun to try out before the making the selections
-
@Dolenz_PSN I agree they are in a difficult position when it comes to pleasing the players as nothing is ever enough. My main gripe this year is with Team Affinity. At first I loved that they split it into individual team programs and thought for sure that meant I’d never run out of things to do. Since then we got Color storm which was cool but that is it.
My favorite thing to do in the game is build different squads and then complete missions and track stats to see who are my favorite cards. That is easily my favorite thing about playing the Show. It goes back to being a kid and making lineups with baseball cards.
Team Affinity plays right into that. You need to build a squad based on a particular team or division and then you have the long program path with tons of rewards to use them on. The way they did it in 2021 was perfect.

And here I was killing Quarm when Omens of War was the current expansion...
I just want the vastly superior version of content we had in 2023. I want repeatable rewards worth doing in the mini seasons. I want to plan how to tackle TA each cycle. I want weekly wonders. I want Topps Now to all be earnable. I want programs with 10+ cards in them. I want conquests with 10+ teams in them. I want wheel spins that were actually somewhat exciting. Remember when collections used to give big chunks of XP towards those wheel spins?
I get for some people 2023 was too offline grindy, and that was mostly the fault of collections making people feel compelled to do everything. Surely there was a better answer than gut programs entirely.
I'm not asking for more. I am asking for the things they added that I did not want at all (WC and DQ) to not take away from what I used to have. And I want to grind for cards, not stubs to buy cards or icons I will never use anyway

It worked well. the 2021 model (also used in 2023) was great.
I can appreciate them trying something different, but this was definitely a swing and a miss

They didn't skip spotlight, there wasn't any games last week cause the all-star game stuff, the 3 games friday-sunday will be part of this weeks spotlight on next Friday.

Guys that got a Topps Now card that werent in the All Star/HRD sets:
Trent Grisham
Brice Matthews
Cole Young (repeat, but so what)and the two names that were all over the stream today as missing cards
Ronald Acuna
David WrightBoth of those guys could have absolutely been given a 98 in advance of a 99 later in the season
And they can use whatever they want for Spotlight. David Peterson scoreless all star game inning for example since hes still cardless for the last two years. or fill in the Topps Now cards from earlier in the year they skipped...like David Peterson.
That said, moving spotlight to midweek permanently could work, but it left the inning drop with just Gunnar.

Acuna or Wright are probably collection awards no?
-
@Ericulous1_XBL depends on the definition of „content“. They released some awesome cards today to play for (Manny, the Bosses). They added a little conquest with good rewards and xp, player and cornerstone program… That is a good B imo … and they have stuff coming on sunday

They should both get 99s at some point
Realistically Wright should have gotten one this week but they dropped the ball big timeThey dropped the ball in general on mid tier cards this year. Guys like Henderson only having the easter card is a waste of the roster. yes, he will get a 99 but why not a card in the middle too?
And I still dont understand how they get a guy like Reggie Sanders to be a legend, then only give him a live series collection. Definitely going to be one and done for the legends list. How many people still dont have Chase Headley?

There is little doubt that Acuna will get a 99 at some point and that it will be either Expensive or very grindy.
Wright most likely will get a 99 OVR card too but I am not sure if there is any precedence of guys getting their numbers retired by a team immediately getting a 99 card.

Fernando got a program 2 years ago. they created a whole number retirement set for it (I think Ozzie got a lower card in it)
Wright is the first guy to have his number retired on the legends roster since that set was released

@Ericulous1_XBL The problem is that they are trying to toe the line between casual players and the grinders which is too wide for a middle ground. They should have shorter programs for casual players while keeping team affinity a significant, but rewarding grind. I thought we had that this year. Then, they chickened out early and basically just handed it to everyone.
-
I agree with the post. There's not much good reason to do stuff in the game right now. If you know how to turn on your Playstation and you don't choose to play NCAA, you can basically have a team of 99s. They badly need a Team Building or Salary Cap mode where you get rewarded for having collected all these other cards...so that you have a place to actually use the cards they give you. Also, yeah, why the heck would you just basically stop Team Affinity and end the rewards in that path at the all star game?
-
@Dolenz_PSN I also am an old man and am still hoping for an amazing shark week map. The year it first dropped was the best week of DD ever.
-
You're all saying the same thing without saying it. The streamers ruined this game.
-
They do release good content in spurts but if you play every day even for just an hour, you breeze through. That why I keep harping on Team Affinity. It’s a ton of content that you can take your time with. The voucher system just blows that up completely
-
Some things take way to long and other take no time at all. The content itself that they have dropped actually isn’t bad. The cards are fun and dope. They just need to find the medium on time/money spent and it’s good. First year after a while back from sets so give them a sec.

Disappointed in no retro allstar or home run derby cards....I'm into the game for retro players and they promote more active players. Just very disappointing. Perhaps it will pick up, perhaps not
