@GoozeFn_PSN thanks! I appreciate the encouragement. I’ve been playing since ‘21 and I can usually finish the Starter Showdown (and then nothing else).

My frustration (and rant) about Showdowns is nothing new. They are unnecessarily difficult. Especially for this directional hitting, veteran level, button pushing old(er) dude.

I just need to swear them off. They are simply not fun and relaxing. 😀

@capardo_XBL Switch to zone. Invest in some control freaks and precision rings. It will be difficult at first, but stick with it. Directional is terrible.

@capardo_XBL The problem with the showdowns are the cards locked behind them. Some people (who are either very talented or masochists) somehow enjoy them, and more power to them, but locking not only multiple reward cards, multiple collection reward cards, and BOTH huge collection cards completely behind your ability to finish a single showdown at least twice is insane and IMO the single worst thing they have ever done in the history of the game. Your entire overarching collection reward system shouldn't be locked behind player ability and performance in a single, obscure mode. It's just horrible game design and as anti-user as SDS has ever been. And the worst part is that it has such a simple remedy: allow gold cards that came out in March to be sold. They do that? Problem solved, but they just continue to refuse to do so. There is NO valid argument for it to still be the way it is. Anyone that is going to/able to complete the showdowns will have done so by now, and anyone that can't, as it stands, will NEVER have either collection reward card. Lovely design, y'all.

@mietha_MLBTS i wish I had more than one upvote! Unfortunately, there’s cards hidden behind DQ as well. Wish there was something that we could grind so we didn’t have to play these modes…

Showdowns this year are utter and complete dog water. I used to just mow through them when I needed, even the ones that gave me trouble only took me two or three tries. This year…in the off chance I beat a mini-boss it doesn’t feel like I beat it, I just feel like the RNG smiled upon me.

There’s way too much non-input related interference this year…feels like the second I get a couple runs, every single piece of contact is a weak fly ball, or a dribbler back to the pitcher, regardless of actual contact made.

The market. All DQ cards are purchaseable (except for the Judge/Soto tutorial.)

I do appreciate the fail once ability now. I needed it for the all star one because sometimes it just goes single, dp, single, dp.

But I think the jackie ones they are all like 7 or 8 runs and those cards are kind of [censored] so its much tougher to win after a fail. there is no cheat like the All Star Marte card.

And the original pipeline showdown is by a large margin harder than anything in last year's showdowns.

Okay here we go. While I don't condone how some people on here are basically bashing on others for thier problems with showdown instead of giving some actual advice to help these individuals. Showdown is almost always locked at veteran difficulty and is made to be a fast paced easy way to get some quick rewards.
That being said here are some suggestions to possibly help improve your game play.
-if you are gonna try and steal against the computer make sure to never take a lead
-cpu is programmed to pitch out or pick off if a runner with 80 spd+ takes a lead
-to improve your steal success rate on XBOX tap left trigger then hold right bumper right after, I believe it would be just L2 tap and hold L1 on PS5. This will usually cause your runner to steal as soon as the pitch release happens and give you best possible chance at a good steal reaction
-try a different hitting view. The most widely used are strikezone or strike zone high (I prefer strikezone high). Bith give you a zoomed in batter view to help see pitches.
-remember to watch the release point of the pitcher not the strikezone. If you watch the strikezone you will almost always be late on fastballs.
-use whatever hitting interface you prefer, but know that zone when you are successful is the most rewarding.
-in showdown known the pitcher and situation.
-take pitches, lower stamina makes pitchers easier to hit and get more rewarding hits off of
-lastly remember while it is frustrating use it as a training mode. Try different views, hitting inputs, and just watch pitches sometimes.

Showdowns are super easy IMO. I will say a variety of settings do help. Also, if you are playing on an old monitor or TV, you are at a major disadvantage. I bought a new TV last winter with VRR, 120hz, and game mode for max FPS. Everything is much easier to hit now.

I'm due for an upgrade soon myself, monitor's just about three years old, doesn't support VRR

If the pitcher nods or shakes it's usually a fastball

I will add you probably should steal with an 80/80, or even 70/70, guy simply to stay out of double plays. HOWEVER, learn which catchers have pop time (Dodgers for example) and maybe revise that to 85/85 against those teams

And hero time is the best perk. Its always active.
