This kid is playing like a veteran. I think right now he is no doubt the rookie of the year.
Quick trivia. What do you think Wilson’s zone contact percentage was last year in Triple A?
-
Right now it’s not really close at all.
-
@MRAD2010_XBL, he's amazing... what a bright spot for sad A's fans like me.
I can't answer your trivia question, but I imagine it's ridiculous; elite contact skills that kid has.
-
@The_Joneser_PSN 99.2 % !!! And so far in the major it’s almost 95%! Insane bat to ball skills
-
You jinxed him! Now he's hurt...
-
@Pergo_MLBTS what??! He got hurt? Today? How bad of an injury?
-
#FJF
Kid should be tearing it up in Oakland. Being in Sac is BS.
After a lifetime of devotion the A's are dead to me and anyone who still supports them is only enabling more billionaire owners to rip the hearts out of communities. -
@Finn_Scotus_MLBTS, I guess your “devotion” only runs so deep…
Bad owners are ephemeral and the Athletics deserve better than Oakland. If you blame everything that happened on Fischer, then you haven’t been paying much attention for the last 20 years or so.
Saw my first game in the Coliseum in 1979, and I’ll support them until I die, wherever they end up. I’m an A’s fan, not an Oakland fan.
-
I've been paying attention for my whole life, including the last twenty years. My first game at the Coliseum was not long after yours.
I've been a fan despite this horrible ownership but leaving the city was too much. If YOU really paid attention you know that 90% of the issues came from John Fisher. He wanted out and he got it.
Why should anyone support a team that won't even stay in the community that loved them? -
@Finn_Scotus_MLBTS I really don’t know much about the A’s owner. I’m actually from the east coast and an Orioles fan. I just grew up playing and loving good baseball. Jacob reminds of me good old school players. Not a ton of power but like a lot of old school coaches say. “Put the ball in a play and good things can happen.”. He’s actually ranked first in most stats for shortstops in the entire league. I wish he played for a better team and then again I don’t. Oakland needs some new players to root for and he’s definitely not disappointing.
-
@MRAD2010_XBL fair enough, and sorry I went on a rant in your thread. The wound for many of us is still very fresh.
I do think the kid has great talent and I hope he has a really successful career. You should enjoy watching him play. -
@Finn_Scotus_MLBTS no need to apologize. No offense taken. I get your frustrations
-
@Finn_Scotus_MLBTS, look, man, I don’t mean to get personal with you; I have a very different perspective and I was put off by this:
anyone who still supports them is only enabling more billionaire owners to rip the hearts out of communities.
Fischer’s a [censored].
And the Oakland city government not only didn’t do a thing for the last 20 years to keep that team, they cost them hundreds of millions of dollars in proposals and studies in recent years for deals the city couldn’t show it had the funding for, let alone any real interest.
And the residents around Laney College resoundingly said “no thanks” in 2017. And the Giants wouldn’t cede the rights to let them build in San Jose in 2015. And the residents and city government of Fremont killed Cisco Field in 2009. And the Schott family had a bid in Santa Clara proper killed by the Giants in 2004.
And Oakland didn’t even try during all of that.
All of those things are true.
How long were they supposed to stand in sewage and patch together a 60 year old, dilapidated park that the twice-gone Raiders ruined? The city of Oakland had plenty of time if it had ever even wanted to keep the team, with better owners than Fischer, but they didn’t.
Besides, even if it was all Fischer, not liking the A’s is like not liking my best friend in elementary school because his [censored] dad moved to Georgia to have a bigger house.
I love my A’s baseball, and don’t like to be told by people that that isn’t okay because their feelings got really hurt.
-
@MRAD2010_XBL, and I’m also sorry for ranting in your thread.
Jacob Wilson is a special player, and I look forward to rooting for him for years to come.
-
@The_Joneser_PSN it’s all good. no worries man. No need to apologize.
-

Sounds like it was just precautionary. Held him out tonight with a sore hamstring. Hopefully nothing long term. He's fun to watch!
-
@Pergo_MLBTS he really is. Hitting a fastball is one of the hardest things to do in any sport and he barely swings and misses. Crazy!
-
@Finn_Scotus_MLBTS same dude; lost the Nordiques and Expos in a 10 year span. Then they won championships.
Guess which teams I’ll never root for.
