Bat grip tape issue
-
Update #10 implemented a change to how RTTS avatar player equipment is used within the game. With update #10, the bat grip tape if selected will not be displayed on historic bat models, such as the models used by Babe Ruth and Henry Aaron. Prior to update #10, bat grip tape could be placed on these bats. The "solution" to this is to simply equip your avatar player with a modern bat model and the tape suddenly appears again in the game.
Now, there can be two sides to this situation, with some thinking it is historically unauthentic for grip tape to be used on bats used by legendary players. On the other hand, they did use pine tar to improve the grip.
However, the main concern is that this unilateral choice was made by people within SDS on how players in RTTS mode can choose to play out their games and their avatar player appearance. This sort of decision is best left to the paying customers, not people meeting around a board table at SDS.
The real concern here is one more indication that SDS suffers from a control problem. It is the same situation with the STANCE socks that many customers have already indicated back from MLB 24 that they want to be able to wear the team style socks and they cannot, instead being forced to wear the exact sock type shown in the setup. These socks then end up looking like a sore thumb in the game play. The customers in a versus CPU game mode should be making these choices, not SDS.
