    What I feel is really odd is that I score more runs on veteran and all-star. That should not be the case. Harder levels of video games (any video game) should not be easier.

    @mubby_33_PSN I did notice rookie pitching seemed really fast early on. Always went to extras against the As on Conquest. Their SPs seemed to throw gas and Mason Miller could barely catch up to him. But now seems slower pitch speeds. Like SDS listened and made a change. Most of my hitters have went up 20 points in avg and as you can see my HRs are happening more frequently.

    Something else I discovered helped my hitting was changing my time to August 11am overcast if have majority of guys daytime quirk boost. The brightness is low grey soft white instead of bright and can see ball better and has helped improve hitting I believe.

    @yankblan_PSN said in Hitting is not fun:

    @The_Joneser_PSN what you’re saying is making ratings matter more than skill, and you can’t have that in DD because it would make no sense to have a top 100 player lose to a scrub like me if I have Award Clemens and he’s using Gold Cal Raleigh. You can make the PCI the size of a pea, if he can put it on my pitch with 100% accuracy he should be rewarded for it.

    Otherwise it would be a simulation that takes the results out of our hands and lets the game play itself. You’ll never be able to get realistic results when humans are involved.

    Not exactly... I was saying that DD doesn't have to yield arcade like results just because we're using some of the best hitters to have played the game in DD. Perhaps I didn't word that well, but my point was that Clemens et al should nullify those hitters to the point where we shouldn't be getting HR derby and non-stop offense, and the results should be more realistic for most of us.

    Top 100 players in this game are good enough that their results are going to exceed that threshold, because they're not normal.

    Actually, I think I agree with you, mostly; if the top 100 player can put his pea-sized PCI on the ball with Gold Cal Raleigh, or even Silver Tyler Soderstrom, he ought to fare pretty well. If he's P/P, then that should be a squared-up, hard-hit ball, regardless of card rating (how hard still being dependent on the card's power ratings)... but if that top 100 guy is not P/P against Clemens, the odds of solid contact with less than optimal timing and placement should be lower with Gold Cal Raleigh than, say, Diamond Jorge Posada. Ratings have to matter, and the only way they do is through manipulating the odds of success based on the interplay of those card ratings. Good players will always put themselves in a better position to have success, and that position improves with higher rated cards.

    About to finish up (probably) my most frustrating night of The Show in my 5 years of playing.

    First, thought I’d give the Jackie Robinson showdown a try (maybe SDS “fixed” it and made it easier). Silly, boy. Made it as far as Paige. Tied the score before Perfect/perfect line outs. 100 mph exit velocity ground balls at fielders. And runners stopping in the basepaths for DPs.

    Next, go to players program. Try abreu moments with his 48 power. Can’t do any of them. Same with [censored] Allen and JD moments. Literally, none of them completed despite (again perfect/perfect lineouts and 100 mph exit velocity ground balls).

    Finally, go to last set of spotlight moments. Takes 15 minutes to get Kurtz to hit a simple single. The rest, forget it!! I give up.

    I’m about to make a lineup of switchitters to finish the Elly Takeover program. I need one hit to finish. I’m thinking SURELY I can do this with 9 switch hitters in a 9 inning vs CPU game!!

    Hitting is so so so messed up. Please, SDs, make it more rewarding. Please.

    @MrNintendo_MLBTS Maybe. The common reliever Halvorsen for the Rockies still hits 103 on the gun on Rookie against me. It just seems wildly inconsistent from game to game. Im teeing off on gold starters and diamond releivers but I cant hit a common?

    I've always said hitting is broken in this game. Patiemce and timing are simply not rewarded enough and it's just too random. Add in this year that CPU pitches throw 60% or more of their pitches right on the gray (all over the box) and it feels even less rewarding.

    @Ledfoot_19_PSN

    Rick Vaughn + Greg Maddux = terrible hitting experience

    On higher difficulty this is fine but on rookie and veteran this shouldn’t happen nearly as often. Go back and play 21, 22, or 23 and this didn’t happen. Last year it did and this year is way worse. Add in the terrible exit velocities and it’s ridiculous 90% of the time.

    @mubby_33_PSN well looking at his card he has 99 velo and outlier 1. Feel like one of my 500 ft plus homers came off this guy at Coors on Conquest with Judge and Williams both accomplishing same game. Gonna start a map and play them again and see what you’re talking about.

    Not hitting related but the anount of diving insane catches are off the charts ridiculous and CPU outfielders running down balls as far as the bullpen mound at the polo grounds is laughable. Anything to prevent Stat grinding.

    Look, I get it. I get that not every game should be or needs to be a monster blowout. And I've always been the first believer that not every P/P should be a guaranteed hit, let alone homer. But my god...hitting right now is, less than fulfilling. There's a lot times where the result just isn't matching the contact, in batted ball velo OR (and this one irritates me) direction of the batted ball not even remotely matching the angle at which the contact was made...that in particular doesn't do much combat the "scripted" crowd.

    You add the fact that pitchers either miss by a foot or dot so close to the point where you're taking and your eye works against you

    I think the biggest issue for me is the inconsistency (or maybe consistency) of the RNG. I mostly play franchise on player lock and the guy I'm locked on will rake like crazy for a couple of months and then the RNG switch gets flipped and you're in for a month of miserably frustrating performances and it feels like there is literally nothing you can do input wise to get out of it. The pitching difficulty seems to bump up to GOAT level and even when you do get the PCI and timing right, every ball is hit right to a fielder. It feels entirely scripted at that point.

    Can they not spread the RNG out a little? Mix in some bad games with good ones, or tough ABs with the meatball pitch ABs? The game is too streaky in both hot and cold directions and it kills the enjoyment of the game. Nobody wants to play 25 games in a row where it feels like their input is meaningless and they are just along for the ride. I also don't want the gift hits that are given when I'm in a hot streak. I don't want to hit a homer on a pitch I clearly missed and I want to feel like there is something I can do to get out of a cold streak instead of just feeling like I have to wait it out until the RNG switch gets flipped again. Make the player's input relevant.

    @MrNintendo_MLBTS

    Guys, I am the dumbest of the dumbests...

    When I got the game, I red a lot here and there. Learn a bit about the concept of Sliders (the game setting, not the type of throw :))

    I think it was Saturday, I move most of the Silders on the left, to give me a chance to learn at my rythm. Not the extrme left, but just a bit or two.

    Yesterday night, I was still strugling and decide, dejected, to adjust the Sliders again to give me a small fighting chance. What did I discover? My changes from Saturday have not been saved! I was playing with the game by default settings!

    I then move the human hitting Sliders a bit to the left. Did not touch anything about pitchers because I am already quite good (I am a former catcher and a former pitchers coach, so I know one thing or two about location and pitch choice).

    And what do you know! I had my best hitting game of my short career! I even hit two homers in the same game. And I won against the mighty Cairo Cats! (how can they have so many 99 Players in their line-up???)

    I also made more money than ever (wich is still not much, believe me), even though the game is less rewarding since I moved the Sliders.

    Guys!?! There might be hope for me!!
