Barry Bonds

I keep hearing people rave about if Barry Bonds is in the game this and that…Look, I’m sure he’d get an elite card but here’s the thing - He was a lefty. If you can’t hit left on left then his attributes aren’t going to matter. And I feel like it’s rare I don’t face a lineup of switch hitters. Just having a 125 everything card doesn’t matter, Skill is still most important.

Hardcore gamers who care about their DD record probably agree with you. The vast majority of the gamer base is made up of casuals (like me) who just want to play with our childhood heroes or with guys from our favorite teams. I know no one uses Luis Aparicio, but he was my dad's favorite player when he was little so he's always one of my favorite guys. And I am sure most of the "elites" would say he's far, far more "unusable" (lol) than a potential Bonds card, but that doesn't mean SDS should dump him and only listen to the demands of a small section of their customers.

I can say, maybe its just me but i seem to hit lefty lefty better than lefty righty. Maybe its because i know 90% of players want to throw that lefty fastball inside on Lefty hitters and i sit on it.

I think the Bonds craze is mostly a matter of anti-establishment type people who want to see folks who cheat baseball put into this video game. Bonds cheated his way to the most revered career record in baseball and perhaps all of sports -- the home run title.
I have a personal level of hostility when it comes to Barry Bonds. This player was well on his way to the Hall of Fame before he started using steroids. However, this wasn't enough for him. He wanted that homer record. Henry Aaron desperately wanted to see his record broken before he died, but it hurt him badly to see it broken by someone who cheated the game to do it.
I believe Ken Griffey Jr. was on his way to breaking Aaron's record when injuries shortened his career. Griffey was the sort of honest player whom Aaron would have been honored to see break his record, and most baseball fans wish that had been the case.
So, no, I don't want Bonds in this video game anymore than I want him in the hall of fame.

@IrishFist412_MLBTS This is like saying the Babe Ruth card wasn’t great. He was in most lineups, if they had him, most of the year. Barry would be much better defensively and with better speed too. It would be a top card all year. Having said that, I’d be shocked if he was in the game.

I am 100% the same as you. I use players that were my favorite growing up along with the Negro League players that we’re just recently getting to use. All I was saying was I’m hearing a ton of buzz but I just think once people actually see the cards they’re going to be mad because 1) He’s a lefty, 2) His Pirates card will be 99 speed/baserunning/steal with 90-100 power. His Giants card will be 125 everything but his speed will be 62 or something. I just personally feel like people are making a fuss over someone alot of them will ditch for the first good switch hitter card.

To keep "warm" for MLBTS 25, I'm replaying the USA map with LS White Sox (no boosts). I'm playing all games on All-Star. 72 overall Benintendi? A beast. My goal in 25 is to be the first to get him to P5.

They should say "caught" cheaters because many of the guys in the MLBTS were juicing.

Remember, there won't be sets and seasons. This means a card like Babe Ruth will absolutely crush every pitcher and have a huge PCI from March until August. Lefty on lefty will be manageable.

Just because theres no sets/seasons doesnt mean every card will be juiced off the bat. Pretty sure there will be low end diamonds still.

@Easy_Duhz_It__PSN I'm pretty sure Bonds would be the MLB collection, and his 99 would be available right away. It would not make sense for them to give Bonds an 85 diamond and slowly creep him up with the rest of the players just like he is a normal name. If he was in the game, he would be a 99 right off the rip. But, who cares. He won't be in the game lol.

If Bonds is in the game, he will 100% be the main LS collection reward.
They could still have a lesser version available at launch though through another collection. Randy Johnson was the LS reward in 22, but also had an 88 Takashi card day one.

Not wanting Bonds either in this game (let‘s focus there) not the Hall-of-Fame is absolutely crazy. The potential alone from his early 5-tools-Pirates-years to the absolute force at the play make so much sense in a video game like this.
I am really glad, the Rocket is in there and I would love to have Bonds in there too . If McGwire/Palmeiro/Sosa is in there, there should really be no problem at all besides the rights-thing

@YOSHI24_XBL He would absolutely be great in this game and I’m a Bonds hater. I think his willingness to have himself in the game/cost are the only things holding it back. I’ll be shocked if it’s him. Would love Ted Williams.

I heard that a new legend will be Mark Teixeira, don’t know how true that is though

@sbchamps17_NSW I mean fine, i'm ok with Tex...however, if they are waiting on a reveal it has to be bigger than Manny and Clemons...if not then SDS literally has less of a finger on the pulse of their community than alot of us believe they have

Honestly with them revealing Clemens and Manny, im thinking that the new storyline will be about the Yankees/Red Sox rivalry. Which would be hilarious because people in here hate when the Yankees get more legends.
I also think that every year, storylines should focus on the rivalries of 2 teams and bring new legends from those teams.
