Comparing contact hitters to 18 is such an exaggeration. Just because they aren’t the best option doesn’t mean they’re useless.
I don't think contact hitters are useless in 20; Iove having Xavier Edwards at the top of my lineup. But power is so OP that people are choosing not to use them. I mean, why would you want a singles and doubles guy when you can just put in another power hitter with an OPS over 1.00?
Honestly, I should probably sub out Edwards for a guy with more pop but I actually enjoy hitting over .300 with a guy with 95+ speed. I like playing with him, even if it's unfortunately not the best strategy this year.
Xavier Edwards has a .300 average 40 SB and 3 homers in 400 at bats. He’s a monster!! Best contact guy in game and they do matter but the HR are way too frequent.

Gallo is impossible to pitch to, even on HOF.
No he is not, Pitch Fast balls just outside middle or top of zone, and low outside off speed. I Have had a lot of success getting Gallo out. Hits alot of ground outs against me especially when I need a double play, I have only made it up to PR. I struggle against guys That can hit like Freeman I do not seem to be able to get him.

To combat the HR I play in bigger parks, Have good speed in the OF with decent Defense. Contact guys matter and I been able to hit triples with McCovey who speed is 34. I was hitting over 300 with Roberts before I got Sandberg. I get a lot of singles and doubles with Bregman

In higher divisions there is a lot of small ball, I scored 6 last game with only one hr. Under 700 is a homerun feat non stop and that’s why it took me so long to get out of the 600’s

Anyone who think this game is skill based is smoking some really good herb. This game is a random series of algorithims. I’ve had FLAIL swingers hit meatballs for homers and I line out on a variety of good contact for all 9 outs of a game. And this happens OFTEN. So I don’t know what game ppl are playing but This game does not determine skill. It’s random.
If someone flails strikes out 6 times and then gets a mistake for a homer and the opponent gets two perfect perfect outs and a good squared out after working two walks. What exact skill could have been used to change that outcome????

They hit them all the time. Because the WORST players that literally swing at every single pitch ALWAYS and I mean Always get at least 1-3 meat balls directly down the middle and if you are swing Center at every pitch guess where that is going?

You answered yourself right there: a mistake down the middle should be a higher reward than a squared up curve at the shoes; I know they’re easier to time but people even with great pci placement shouldn’t mash on pitches at their shoulders or shoe tops because they can, it’s physically improbable and should be rare occurrences.

I changed my TV mode to "game" about two days ago and I've been having much better hitting results, likely better pitching results as well, but I haven't personally been able to notice the benefits of game mode on pitching. I'm wondering if using contact swing with select hitters when down 0-2 or 1-2 in the count would lead to more manufactured offense, instead of relying on home runs. When your lineup is filled with power hitters, using contact swing is probably the last thing on most players' minds. One idea I just had: make a separate squad just for experimenting with contact swing against the CPU.

I played a RS game on HoF last night. I lost 5-3 and 7 out of the 8 runs were scored via HR including my opponent hitting an "early" swing HR in the 10th to tie the game

I seriously mean no offense by this, but while that may work in PR, it won't work in the higher levels. Guys aren't going to chase pitches out of the zone and get themselves out, especially with how tight the strike zone is this year. And on top of that, I've lost count of the number of times I've thrown low-outside offspeed pitches to high power guys and just given up early swing HRs

I have up a HR on a very early/ok swing the other day. I don't think that's a good swing lol
I've also hit HRs on swings where the ball wasn't even in the inner PCI and I'll he the first to admit that it shouldn't have been a HR

Sounds like some people need to center swing more often and stop slamming their pci.
I haven’t had issues batting, pitching on the other hand is a disaster. -

Yep. Pitching by far the worst thing in this game. Still can't play RS because of it. Events are difficult but don't give a $h!+ about my record in that. Pitchers have some lofty era's though.

I have a 2.45 era, and it would be less than that if it wasn’t for one game I gave up 8 runs and another I rage quit in the second down 6-0 ( errors and bloops combined with a p/p warning track with Reggie) the problem with the HR is that there seems to be very little other way to score. Games seems to be 5-2 with most runs from bombs. I don’t mind the bombs but I’d like to see doubles and contact singles more often ( not bloops) the hr/9 does not need to be put back in unless the hits go for doubles instead. I want to see games where runs are scored in a variety of ways. If the games are 10-7 then so be it. I just want a variety of hits. It feels like whatever year it was where the games were low scoring but all homeruns ( 18?)

The pitch speeds make the skill gap. Bad players cant time 98 Fastballs no matter what they are set up on. I just went 26-2 to make WS. I deserved to lose the 2 games and deserved to win the 26. It wasnt like that last year. That game actually let [censored] players compete at higher levels because of the line-outs. I swear you people cry just to cry. Im sorry you are bad at the game.
