Long Showdown stages
-
I am curious how people feel about things like
'score 11 runs in 28 outs' in a showdown.Or in general when there are showdown stages that need more than 2-3 runs beyond what runners they start you with
I'm not asking can you beat them or are they efficient for TA, but do you find them fun?
-
I don't mind them much but they stress me out at times. I did the NL central showdown yesterday and was 1 out away from failing the whole thing on the third or fourth Boss, luckily McGwire walked it off but I would have taken a break from it had I failed.
-
The down by 10 runs Fergie Jenkins was a bit much, but all in all I didn’t mind the rest.
-
I have to say showdowns are my least favorite game mode. Short with runners on base, long with a double digit deficit, neither are my cup of tea.
-
Some were long, but they were all pretty easy. Didn't have to sweat out any of them. Had at least 7 outs in all the NL and AL ones for S3 TA2.
-
I've managed to get two of them done so far. We'll see how hard it is to do the rest. But yeah, they do seem a bit more than the average moments.
-
I did the AL East in one shot. Tried the AL Central like 6 times and i cant hit for [censored]. Doesnt help that Murray, McCann and Morneau run like they're wearing concrete cleats so even if i get something in the gap, they're getting thrown out at 2nd.
I've managed to finish the entire AL without doing all of them so im not even gonna bother tomorrow when i start the NL.
To answer the actual question, the level of fun depends on the goal itself. 16 total bases in 4 innings isnt bad...im not really a fan of the ones where you need a specific kind of hit (XBH, HRs etc) because i feel like i get inside my own head trying too hard to focus and that just makes [censored] worse.

They take too much time. I normally win them. But it takes forever.

For clarity, I am specifically talking about Showdown here, not the psuedo-showdown moments (there is a thread already with a lot of conversation about those)
-
@Teak2112_MLBTS I thought that’s what you asked, but I just assumed I was misunderstanding (a safe bet generally).
Oddly enough, and I know it’s not what you asked, I did like the pseudo-showdown moments more than the actual official showdowns. However, no, I don’t find them fun for a whole host of reasons.

I tend to Approach showdowns in a manner that should make these super easy...Keep Runners on Base and just keep em moving. Don't rely on the Homerun Ball. Did the NL Showdown and I just kept hitting Bomb after Bomb so I went with it.

Yeah. These two had alot of power hitters. Usually I'll draft speed guys and try to get the bunt and losing in 7th inning perks.

I actually have three of them done. I didn't think I had that many. I said earlier in this thread I thought it was a little nice (very little) to have showdown minutes to practice on. I take that back. These are a pain. I hope we never see these again. Give us back the individual shorter minutes, please, SDS. The secret, like the showdowns, is to make the pitcher pitch a lot. One thing I wish they'd not done with these is compile them by inning, where three outs causes you to lose what you have. I wish it was one long batting practice instead.
