Your Card reveals and teases for Season 3

For me there are a few takes on this:
- I do not like goofy stuff … I wanna play Mariano Rivera in the late innings … where he belongs. BUT …
- I like when they spice it up and there couldn’t be a better way than doing this with 95s at the beginning of S3. That is because there will be better cards very quickly and you won’t see those kind of stuff very soon
- They have not enough legends (which is bad to begin with) so bringing in e.g. the third Nolan would be more 23. Since 23 was the lowpoint for me, I like this …
- Guys, embrace new ideas … We will not have new legends this time around (there is hope for 25)
I have absolutely zero problems with 4 Nolan Ryans. And there 100% SHOULD be 4 Ryans.
But those 4 Ryans should be for the 4 teams he pitched for.I cannot stand the argument that players should only have 1-2 cards per year, I think that is absurd. But those cards should have variety. Different teams, different focus (like a Ryan 'Young arm' card for the mets, a no hitter card for the Rangers, etc)
And I strongly disagree that this is the right time for it
Its September, this is the best part of the year: pennant races, awards races, etc. So much history in baseball, even recently, to pick from
And no, these wont be replaced quickly. TA round 2 is 6 weeks away and programs are 2-4 cards per now. And topps now will be lower rated for the first few weeksThis would have actually fit reasonably well at the start of season 2 during a slow time in the year, not season 3 in the playoff race time.

Untill they have 97s, 98s, and 99s that are OOP cards. Then what?

Or... do the OOP in January/February. I could have gotten behind that idea.

Hank Aaron (99), Craig Biggio (99), Dansby Swanson (97), Jake Diekman (95) in the XP path.

Wait. These are the "big" Season 3 cards? Another L.
Three righties I can't hit with (except maybe Dansby) and a fairly useful reliever.
I'm not even whelmed.

and it looks like the event will also be about OOP

I bet you can't wait for your 99 Stan Musial relief pitcher as a collection reward.

They are on the XP path. I assume Dansby and Jake are just scattered among the other rewards on the path. They have not specifically said that Aaron and Biggio are bosses.
Maybe since it is a shorter season they will only have two bosses?
-
I hope that you have to pick Trevor Hoffman's pitch type before throwing a runner out at first. I'll go with his 73 mph circle-change.

If they're not the bosses, then that would be better.
There are just so many better options that need good cards:
C. Seager
Clemente
Acuna
O. Cruz
R. Johnson (as a pitcher)
Aroldis
Utley
Schwarber
Muncy
J. Polanco
Mantle (though I think he's overrated in game) -

Getting better... sort of...
But picture selection still needs a LOT of work...

Wouldn't mind an HOF Program, for him, like Beltre, Helton, and Morneau's programs.
-
Second Bob Gibson card released. Second time he has been a collection reward.
It is actually a plus that he looks like the one that will be easiest to obtain. Plus without any boosted Wilson Contreras cards this year, catcher has been a weak spot for any Cardinals theme team
-
The lorenzen card will be good just because he was a really good hitter before they had the DH in the NL

Mantle (though I think he's overrated in game)I think they need to keep "bosses" as all-timers. I'm sure we'll still get 99s for most of those guys, but I prefer the guys we're working toward all season to be HOFers like Griffey and Chipper and Aaron and Biggio. Grinding out 1.15 million XP just to get Jorge Polanco or Max Muncy or Oneil Cruz would be super anticlimactic. Release those guys in headliners or in Vault packs.

Ranked rewards are a 99 Awards Larkin and a 99 Retro Finest O'Neil as a Yankee.
97 AF Suter as the 75pts reward.

At least these are not OOP cards.
Cubs seem to be having a good drop
Jake Arrrieta DH
Bruce Sutter CP
Anthony Rizzo SP
Dansby Swanson SS -

That's fitting, because the Cubs are taking a big steaming drop on this season.
