At this point MLB 24 is the worst show ever released

It’s certainly not the worst gameplay wise but the doubling down on Seasons is what makes it the absolute worst experience in the franchise’s history. As I’ve said on here before - I used to play the show year round. Last year I bailed when season 3 dropped, This year I’ll finish out season 1 and then I’ll be bailing when NCAA football drops. I’m not going to keep chasing a carrot especially when I can only use the carrot for a week or two before it’s taken away again lol…I’d be fine with them going back to grinding for immortals or even the way it was from 18-22. It really sucks because this used to be the only game I would play year round.

Well said. Right off the bat the XP slashes rubbed me the wrong way, then come to find 70% of the season bath rewards are just next to useless(banners, minimal stubs) AND they buried the good rewards so far down the path the average player can't reach them. I think that unless S2 reverts back to the '23 and prior game XP set up, I'm likely shelving the game for the most part...not wasting my time chasing the carrot, as you so eloquently put it, when it's basically been all stick(to extend the metaphor)

They have gone full on digital casino mode but they’ve done it terribly. At least in EA games if you spend real money you’re spending real money for “points” and then you spend those points on packs that give you cards you can sell for the main in game currency. You can pull the minimum but you’re still coming out with more in game currency than you had before you spent money.
In this game you can just buy in game currency directly, and that’s the only way to buy packs, which give you terrible odds of getting anything good. Buy 150k stubs for 100 dollars, and you’re left with like 25-30k after you buy 3 choice packs and a monthly awards pack and pull the minimum. There’s literally 0 incentive to buy these packs because you’re just lighting stubs on fire.
So what should we even be doing? I just pulled a duplicate Corey Seager today and I have 110k stubs now, but with 97s being the top of the power curve, I would have to spend 62k on a 92 ovr Oswaldo Cabrera from months ago to add to my switch hitting team. Or 100k on Ian happ or elly de la Cruz. Goodrum is 160k stubs. The in game economy is totally [censored] and it’s because the only way they’re dropping the good cards are via 30k and 40k packs that aren’t worth the risk of buying, and they’re not giving them out anywhere.

@nflman2033 I'm sorry NFLman, I would be rather playing 18. I'm not just saying that. There was always something do. Tonight, we get storylines and a boring cpu grind, then thats it. lol
I'll say this. DD for 18 vs DD for 24. I will agree that I enjoyed those grinds, but the game play on 18 was easily the worst of any of the years I played. It wasn't fun to only care about how many power hitters you had because contact meant nothing. Guys like Gallo were OP where someone like Wade Boggs was useless. 18 was when I still played online and fastballs were so slow that you could only use them by pitching backwards.

This years game is like that family member that doesn't change, no matter how much the rest of the family wants them to. They bring you to tears, because all they have to do is wise up, but they just don't, no matter how much you beg them to.
No wonder we see the word TEAR when we open packs. This year's game brings us to tears! -

@CDNMoneyMaker93 Having seen your posts over the years, this statement is WILD. But it's also pretty accurate.
I have found the positive in every game and reason to keep playing, I haven't played a single inning of game play since Tuesday.
I just can't be motivated to keep going when 90% of the content is packs and the other 10% are programs that are split up programs of what was pervious big programs
-
@CDNMoneyMaker93 I was just thinking this same thing the other day. The Show 18, filled with its Immortals and having to collect countless bobbleheads and hats.......and I still liked it better than this years version.
Kinda funny. I think all they really need to do to solves a lot of the issues is go back to the innings programs and throw "seasons" in the trash. Its universally hated and I still cant believe they brought it back this year.
There is nothing worse then griding for months to get 3 cards (if your even lucky enough to do that) then you only able to use them for a few days because the expire, and you have to grind another 2 weeks or month just to get another Wild Card to use 1 of them

THIS 100%

Leaving after season 1. Too many actually good games that I want to play. Most of the content in this game is in packs. This game is terrible. I hate seasons and losing cards.
-
@Weshill627 yeah, there’s a lot of glitches and 24. Can’t even receive the Captain card. What is going on with the show this year you guys need to get with the program a lot of people has paid a lot of money for this game for this to be an ongoing problem.
-
And to top it off, not getting the captain card Jeter should have been a 95 rating and Sabathia a 90 rating at least come on you guys there’s a lot of Gamers who play off-line and we’re basically getting the bottom of the barrel and this year’s game but the game price stays the same. I don’t understand if that’s the case lower the price.
-
17 is when I started in DD. Skipped 18 and 24. Both have been good decisions.
-
Trash game. SDS studios should juat give up and let another competent studio take over. I'll never buy this [censored] game again
-
There’s no point of having good inputs constantly losing to people who almost exclusively hit late and early is frustrating. It happens all of the time I can take a few bad luck results here and there but this is ridiculous this year.

Lots of people think it’s the worst gameplay but some people are getting rewarded for bad swings consistently so they like the game.
-
@VioletNine9 Then those people didn’t experience The Show 16 with the bunting glitch that couldn’t be stopped. Or pre-Show 2020 where contact hitters were useless. While Show 24 is not perfect, It’s leaps & bounds better than its predecessors.
-
I still vote for 18.
I do believe a lot of people have regency bias when making these claims, maybe not all but some.

For some reason I am not meant to make World series. I lost again, 14-7. My opponent was taking bad swings in the first 4 innings and then all of the sudden in the 5th inning he couldn't get out. From a game development standpoint. Idk how someone could take horrible swings and keep getting rewarded. I gave up 3 "Late" homers. lol I'm current down to 847 because SDS enjoys making you lose more points than you gain on wins.
I'm 18-13 on the season, and its not looking good. I would take a few days off of Ranked, but there isn't anything else to do in the game lol. I've played BR and Events, since there's no other grinding. Ranked is the only thing I haven't done yet.
At least in MLB 18 you could grind Immortals, there was always something to do. In mlb 24, you complete the 10 minute mini program and then nothing. You are an addict asking for permission to get clean, lol.
Seriously, though, you're not wrong.

Especially because 18's gameplay was garbage. You can defend the souvenirs program grind, but there is no defending power meta and useless fastballs.
