5 Reasons Why I Am Quitting The Show (Or Why SDS has Failed a Franchise)

@Jackmo709 Ha, I know you were being sarcastic. Mine might not have conveyed either!

- is a Google problem, not an SDS problem.

How is it a Google problem? Isn’t SDS who increased the number of captchas a year or so ago?

Funny enough, most of his issues and/or whines were not monetization related

My problem is there have released zero cards this year I actually like or enjoy using, I was excited a little bit for the classics, but instead it’s the higher diamond versions of all the BR boring cards. But I agree, Ever year they lose legends I like and replace them with the fifth best player on a 90s team.
-
For the loss of legends - SDS has a budget. just like any business. Maybe those players were not used heavily as they thought and were losing money on the investement. Could be a business decision on their part not to bring certain legends back and maybe those legends no longer want to opt it.
Easy to say they've lost legends when it's not your money.

I hate how they promised double xp weekends and we are half way through Season 1 and nothing. I hate how the recent conquest map had no additional xp. I hate the gameplay. But im a sucker and play bc there really isnt another game I want to play right now.

Bye. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Great post but most of the people using these forums are SDS boot lickers.

But its not a great post. It has some good points, but 3 out of 5 points are essentially "I only care about the big names" and could have been condensed into one. Another has a glaring mistake in it and the final one is about flipping on the app which I guess is valid.
And no post that uses 'slap in the face' should ever be taken seriously. They came closer to posting like an adult with their criticism than a lot of people do, but still failed in the end.
-
Play the game cause we love baseball....saying these guys aren't like EA....well I fear that ship has sailed

I haven't posted on the Community Forums in years, and yes, this is another post from a player saying he's checking out—likely to be met with "Fine, go." Whatever. Hopefully SDS reads this.
But I am finished with The Show, after many years and hundreds of dollars and countless hours spent. I took last year off because I was so frustrated with what was happening with the game, but one month into this year's game and...I just can't.
-
The loss of true legends, replaced by above-average former players, is a HUGE L for this game. Losing the likes of Ted Williams, Rogers Hornsby, Ty Cobb, Dale Murphy, and so SO many others, and then trying to dupe us into believing Chili Davis is a "legend." Chili Davis is a former player, not a legend. Grady Sizemore is a former player, not a legend. Raul Ibanez is a former player, not a legend. Lists float around these forums of the players SDS has lost the rights to, and it's staggering.
-
Getting to 1 million (!) XP and 400 (!) Program cards to acquire a 99 boss is absolutely absurd. The amount of time you would need to spend flipping cards and playing the game to get to the achievements...people have lives and jobs. Their jobs should not be playing The Show just to get a 99 George Brett. For years, SDS has made small steps toward pushing players to spend money on stubs, and this...this is the final, full evolution of those efforts, and it's a slap in the face.
-
Speaking of flipping, it used to be a sort of easy way to earn enough stubs to acquire the players you needed to complete collections. Now...the CAPTCHAs. I...I can't. It's too much. I literally went through 9(!) just to sell ONE card. I understand and respect the need to keep bots off the market, that's legit. But you have to go jump through more hoops to sell or buy a card on The Show Community Market than you do applying for a freaking credit card. The CAPTCHAs have turned flipping into an hours-long process.
-
The insistence on Topps Now players. Look, just because a player goes 3-5 or throws two shutout innings, that does not mean they need a diamond card. And I sure as hell don't want to have to use a #4 starter who won't even be on the 40-man roster in August for, like, a dozen strikeouts. I've found my lineup usually consists of no-name Topps Now players I have never heard of and do not want to use on my team. Instead of using, say Ryne Sandberg at 2B, I have to use Colt Keith. SDS insists on us using these players, when no one wants to use them!
-
The insistence on "Future Stars." News flash to SDS: About 80% of the Future Stars turn out to be nothing. Christian Pache? Forrest Whitley? Vidal Brujan? I get the fun of using new young players, and that's fine. But to make them, and Topps Now players, a primary mode of play...SDS used to be so much about Legends. Now it's about...I don't even know what. Spend your life flipping cards for 99 players we won't even build in programs to let you use.
Yes, this is long. Yes, this has been building up. Yes, I'm frustrated and disappointed. Do I expect anything will change? No.
#2. First 99 from the Season 1 Collection is at 280 cards. Not 400.

@TXRaider78 i hate that the future stars pipeline csrds hsbe zero perks so once i hit 700 in ranked i rarely use them anymore same with buxton boost and atleast there bot as bad as 2k who completly removed the market you buy player and instantly lost half your credits spent.. Ive been plsyijg the shos for longer than diamond dynasty has been in exsistance and the past 2-3 years i find myself struggling to have the ambition to play more than a game or two in a session and to play thr gsme fornlonger than a couple months I thi k lsdt year i wuit a few days after season 2 started snd im already feeling worn out this year
-
@TXRaider78 well explained, very reasonable … Imo the best critic feedback this year (and congrats on missing last year, boss move ). I do not agree that this makes the game awful, but … again, very reasonable
-
@TXRaider78 Me too! ps5 is gone, and thinking I might hit up Jade Empire on the old xbox for kicks. Back in the days when a good video game wasn't a digital vampire attempting to bleed you dry but rather a finished product you'd replay because it was just [censored] good.

This I think is what bothers people the most...they slashed the XP which only hurts a large portion of the player base, and only somewhat slows down the hardcore grinders. The double XP won't do much with the cap(even assuming they double the daily cap with it). Not saying it won't help because it will...just nowhere near as much as in previous years

@Sarge1387
Nerfing XP is the best example of how “unrewarding” the game is to play this year. Combined with the lack of packs in programs and abundance of packs for sale in the store it’s just a shell of what it once was. Even the “whitest” of white knights can’t deny that we used to get a lot more bang for our buck in past versions of the game. Overall these moves have catered to the whales and hardcore online players while crapping all over the remainder of the player base. This is why the game is getting so much backlash and the goodwill built up in the past is either completely gone or running on fumes. It really is sad to see the majority sacrificed for the vocal minority.

I love all the responses from the SDS simps. Look at the ratio boys you’re out numbered.
