I just got into a shouting match with my mom about why would you take out a starting pitcher after he gives up a hit in the 7th inning and she automatically goes to along time ago there wasn't any of this pulling your pitcher without him going 9 innings and tried to tell her that that wasn't how it goes now a days but she wouldn't shut up and let me explain why. Now she's pissed because I wanted to walk away from the conversation and she wouldn't let me, am I wrong or is she just set in her ways

    1st: mom is never wrong
2nd: baseball started changing in the 80s, more apparent in the 90s,and for awhile there 10 yrs ago or so it was rare to see a starter go 6 let alone pitch in the 7th, last couple years teams are starting to try and get more length from starters
but yeah you are right baseball is a lot different from even 10 years ago let alone 30 or 40.

baseball is just very different than it used to be. Pitchers used to be around 100 pitches thrown in the 8-9th inning every single start. Today most pitchers seem to be around 100 pitches thrown around the 5th inning. That's a big difference. With that said some arguments you will never win, and an argument with someone much older about the way things used to be is a lost cause.

Go tell Mom that youre sorry, that you love her, and that you’re sorry for temporarily losing your bearing. It was just a few days ago that you were worried sick about Dad and the earthquake. Take it from me…I’d gladly hand over my next 20 years of living to be able to speak to either of my parents again for just ten seconds.

Baseball will always be around but I assure you she will not….and yes it’s changed from when she grew up and it’ll keep changing and sometimes it’s good and sometimes it’s not but ultimately who cares it’s just a game.

Seriously swallow your pride and go give her a hug, tell her that you’re sorry and that you love her. It’ll make her day

Except she's the one who will hold this over me for days even after I apologize to her. She gets pissed off at the stupidest things and she is the one that starts it 99% of the time. My dad told me to just walk away from it but obviously I'm not allowed to do that either, I'm just supposed to listen and not have an opinion
