Buck Leonard fielding moment

Hey peeps - I’m on Switch, and struggling with how to complete the Buck Leonard moment when you have to record one putout. I’m trying everything I can think of but nothing I do with the buttons or joystick seems to have any effect. Help please? Thanks!

Let's see if I remember this:
When the 'glove' shows up; use the controller to move the glove towards the ball. When it gets near you get a button icon that you have to hit on your controller. Then I think you have to hit it again to throw to the base.
