XP Cap and Offline Players

@Teak2112 I am 45 years old and I play Co-Op with my 19-year-old son who plays college baseball. I am definitely not a good player and it is evident to me more and more everyday. A few years back I would have called myself average, but I truly don't think that is the case anymore. More of my point is that BR is not expensive. Even if it took me twice as long, that is 10 entries and 15,000 stubs which is easily made up by rewards and packs.
-
@crash447 I think the mostly offline players have more of an issue losing to another person than they do spending stubs and thats why they dont play online.
-
@Easy_Duhz_It_ I can definitely see that. It used to bother me and still bothers me if I lose a game I feel like I could win. But once I realized that winning AND losing is part of baseball, I started having way more fun online. I also just realize a lot of people are better than me and that is okay.

That may be the case for some but I think it is an over simplification. There are other reasons to not want to deal with online play. Poor internet connections, domestic interruptions that may cause you to pause for more that the pause timer, toxic online players, etc.
Offline definitely allows for a greater range of player skill to advance the programs.

@MetalDoc17 they are doing the same as EA with FIFA. Same basic game every year, few changes that inevitably break the gameplay. Inflated price. You are actually paying top price for a game that is actually just a patch added to the previous game . But as long as folk buy, it will always happen.

@crash447 What is your record in BR, if you don’t mind me asking? You say you are “bad”, so just curious. I know I will be far from having a winning record. I avoided online for many years because of bad server connections and internet in my area, and I just struggle with the idea of trying it again. I have great internet now, but I’m just very negative about it. I became a much more casual offline player in sports games many years ago. I have very few connection issues ever with PVP shooters, but sports games have always been very laggy and not enjoyable.
I don't know overall, but going about 3-2, 4-2 is pretty common for me. I will have some 1-2's and almost every season I will have a 0-2. A few years back I would get the 8 win mission almost every season, but I did not get it once last year and this year it is down to 7 wins, but my best run was 5-2. In my opinion, BR games are considerably different once you have a loss.

Yeah the BR stubs arent a big deal, it just sucks to play those goons that hit every pitch out of the park just so you can maybe get a second at bat with Luis Gonzalez.
Its better with the lower requirement, but its still a very long slog to the 25k exp
Last year by the end I would just flip the BR cards a few times to cover their cost and buy them
-
@Dolenz I guess we can agree to disagree, because I don’t at all see it as the flip side to the same coin. Let me preface this once again- I play mostly online modes.
I’ve already said this, but someone who usually plays rookie mini seasons playing BR against superior competition for a 1500 stub entry is not the same as someone who plays all star and higher all the time taking 30 minutes to an hour to play some moments and a conquest map on veteran. It might be time they don’t want to spend, but for some people there is a talent disparity that cannot be overcome. Not sure what’s so hard to understand about the difference between the two situations.
Regardless, I think it’s a good thing that there are modes that reward players for being good. This game does so better than most other sports games. But I see where the frustration is coming from for people who are seeing less xp opportunities than ever before and being told to just play online- truly bad players who go 1-2 or 0-2 every BR run will have to spend a lot of time in the mode to finish the program. The existence of the BR program is good. The XP in that program being baked into the natural progression is what people are complaining about, and all I’m saying is that I see where they are coming from.
-
Another way to look at it like this:
BR program will run 3 times during the season. If its skipped, thats 105K less experience gotten.
Which is three spins of the wheel.
However, the offline player will make up a good chunk of that from mini seasons, which a lot of online people dont touch. And the offline player will still be indirectly getting some of that BR experience by playing offline, where they get more gameplay exp, instead of BR (assuming they arent capping)
And really all of this is just speculation because we havent seen the rest of the programs/content in season 1. Assuming they can fix the game to give it to us.

There should be multiple roads to the destination.
OMG!!! You got it! This is exactly how it works! It's just Online is like an Expressway and offline is the Scenic Route!
Good Job you got there!

@Teak2112 I agree with this. The way it plays out is what really matters. If players who do only offline programs are still able to reach the bosses with time left in the season, and people who do all online and offline are just spinning the wheel more, then I don’t see any issues with the system. If people not doing online programs are significantly further behind, that would be a problem, but I don’t anticipate that being the case anyways.

But if you live in NYC in the winter you can't get FLA weather without going there instead.
