XP Cap and Offline Players
-
Offline players are just asking for them to be consistent to their own message. Play the way you want too. If they had told us the truth at the beginning that offline would be cut off at the knees this year, we could have voted with our wallets.

@DivineFury75 add me on PSN and I’ll run co-op with you. We’ll get you some XP
I'll gladly add you but can't seem to find your name on the ps app.

This, a thousand times

@DivineFury75 No, I didn't at all say everyone should play exactly how I play. I am saying it is more balanced than it has been in years. I just looked and there are XP bonuses in Mini Seasons and Conquest Maps. I haven't done the math to see how many XP bonuses are in offline modes versus online modes, but I don't really care.
25K Classic Mini, 15K TA mini, 10K USA, 2.5K Spring conquest, 0 TA conquest
52.5K compared to 80K for the three online tracks, two of which still have some time to go on them so perhaps offline can catch upAt the end of the day the 30K isnt a meaningful difference, but we will see how the season plays out
I made a post right after the details were announced about my concerns with it, but I do think we need to see how the season plays out before we can decide if its a big deal or not.

It would all be more accepted if they had actually made some changes to the gameplay and graphics. Instead it feels like punishment and we are still playing the same game we’ve played for years. I still just feel like they are testing business boundaries and titrating dollars. As much as I like Gamepass, I think it may have ruined this franchise.

How are offline players cut off at the knees? Seriously, I don't understand.
The XP cap is the XP cap regardless of the mode you are playing. Reward XP happens in both online and offline programs.
Online players make the same complaint, that they are forced to play moments, conquests and showdowns against the CPU for programs when they just want to play online.

I think the 'business boundaries' thing is way overblown. There are a lot of packs, but they are not remotely essential and you make enough stubs through game play to get what you need from them without buying stubs.
The gameplay should only get small tweaks because in my opinion the core is the best iteration of baseball we have ever seen, and are likely to see
I agree that we should be next gen by now though, and they should have fleshed out some non DD game modes more as well as added something new to DD offline (not sure if online players feel a new mode is needed?)
-
Dolenz, they have clearly nerfed the amount of xp progress you can make as an offline player this year. To the point that most will likely not unlock the good rewards until right before the next season starts….or maybe even after. That kinda sucks.

“Cut off at the knee” is a tad dramatic, but if you can’t see the difference between offline players being forced online to get smacked around and online players having to spend an hour doing moments, not sure what else to tell you. A bad player trying to finish the BR program will take a LOT of time and many entries (1500 stubs per). Doing moments and conquest is free and online players will get most of it done easily.
-
@Doctor-Fauci910 Bad player here...I am on entry five and at 99 points. Just need two more pxp (so one at bat) and the program is done. It has cost me a total of 7500 stubs which can easily be offset by one or two of the golds you earn. For 7500 stubs I will earn...
4 Silver
4 Gold
4 Diamond
1 Flawless (No Sell)
Lots of packs
Stubs
XPThe biggest misconception in this game is that BR takes a lot of stubs.
-
@crash447 not so great player here too
I finished BR in an evening in I want to say 6-7 entries? I had one good run which completed all of the "single entry" missions and boom! It can be done
-
@crash447 What is your record in BR, if you don’t mind me asking? You say you are “bad”, so just curious. I know I will be far from having a winning record. I avoided online for many years because of bad server connections and internet in my area, and I just struggle with the idea of trying it again. I have great internet now, but I’m just very negative about it. I became a much more casual offline player in sports games many years ago. I have very few connection issues ever with PVP shooters, but sports games have always been very laggy and not enjoyable.
-
if you are at 99 points in 5 entries you are not as bad as you think you are

I am not denying that gameplay XP seems to be more limited this year, but is that not also the case for online play as well? Their own words state that the XP cap is to limit the speed at which the 99s are introduced.

Yes, if I play online I can earn more stubs by doing more programs. But that has always been the case. There are online players who don't want to be forced to do Moments, showdowns, conquests, mini seasons or March to October in order to earn more XP. I see that as the flipside of the same coin.
Now, I am an offline player. One who plays how he wants. I don't even finish all of the offline programs if they don't seem worth it. In the end, I am willing to see how season 1 plays out over the next few months before I pass judgement and completely condemn SDS for their decisions.

@Teak2112 I am 45 years old and I play Co-Op with my 19-year-old son who plays college baseball. I am definitely not a good player and it is evident to me more and more everyday. A few years back I would have called myself average, but I truly don't think that is the case anymore. More of my point is that BR is not expensive. Even if it took me twice as long, that is 10 entries and 15,000 stubs which is easily made up by rewards and packs.
-
@crash447 I think the mostly offline players have more of an issue losing to another person than they do spending stubs and thats why they dont play online.
-
@Easy_Duhz_It_ I can definitely see that. It used to bother me and still bothers me if I lose a game I feel like I could win. But once I realized that winning AND losing is part of baseball, I started having way more fun online. I also just realize a lot of people are better than me and that is okay.

That may be the case for some but I think it is an over simplification. There are other reasons to not want to deal with online play. Poor internet connections, domestic interruptions that may cause you to pause for more that the pause timer, toxic online players, etc.
Offline definitely allows for a greater range of player skill to advance the programs.

@MetalDoc17 they are doing the same as EA with FIFA. Same basic game every year, few changes that inevitably break the gameplay. Inflated price. You are actually paying top price for a game that is actually just a patch added to the previous game . But as long as folk buy, it will always happen.

I don't know overall, but going about 3-2, 4-2 is pretty common for me. I will have some 1-2's and almost every season I will have a 0-2. A few years back I would get the 8 win mission almost every season, but I did not get it once last year and this year it is down to 7 wins, but my best run was 5-2. In my opinion, BR games are considerably different once you have a loss.
