Ho Hum...

Man, I'm just not feeling it. Every time my wife asks how the game is, I say something like "Eh. I'm just not engaged this year."
I mean, I've tried to be. I set up some spreadsheets to track my progress. I've turned on the game with the attitude "Let's see how far I can get today." But, so far, each time I've played, I turn it off after an hour or two and go do something else.
During my first game of the day, I'm thinking about all the bolts on my workbench I can sort. This year's game is just not doing it for me. I think I'll go back and play some 23 to see if it's me, or if it's indeed the game.
I've been thinking about dumping DD and returning to Franchise, but then I think about being unable to carry my team over to next year's game and think "What's the point? I'll put all this effort into getting a franchise going only to have to start over the next year."
Yeah. "Eh. I'm just not feeling it this year."
Such a bummer for a game that I've loved to play so much in the past.

I took the year off last year; since 21 and the glut of stuff to do that keeps you from playing with the players you like just to complete stat missions, I was burned out. Checking in here from time to time confirmed my feeling, especially with the seasons.
Having fun this year though, and I have changed my mindset (we'll see how long it lasts). Taking a step back is not a bad thing.

I can hope for you that maybe the next chapter of Team Affinity, or Two chapters, gives us some cards that can get you more excited and motivated to play. I definitely share some of your feelings though.
I can’t recall if you go online or not? I know, for myself, I found motivation in unlocking all of the cards to then take into events and ranked, but if you don’t do that, I totally get it.
-
I go through phases, but honestly you mention an hour or two and that is about my limit on any day. Some game that I love I can plays all day and never grow tired of them while others, even though I love them, I need to limit how much I play
-
@Blind_Bleeder Just made a similar post...it just doesn't have the staying power or give me the FOMO (in a good way).
I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything interesting when I take a couple days off.
Maybe it'll get a spark once the season starts but I don't see myself grinding out content past season 1, oh well!

I don't play online - I don't even have PS+. It's pretty difficult for me to imagine myself playing online when I have a difficult time beating the CPU on rookie (I didn't in 23...I would shut out teams 30-0). Heck, if you read the post complaining about bots online...well, that could be me they are playing. I've tried online in the past, but I got tired of being mercied. I have played against friends for the fun of it in the past - but that is different than competitive online play.

In the past, it hasn't been unusual for me to play 3-4 or maybe even 7 hours in a day. Granted, not all of that time was usually straight playing. I have taken breaks for the dog, to eat, work on a spreadsheet, etc. But this year it is pretty typical to play for 5-10 minutes and then put it on pause to do something and then go back to it.

@Blind_Bleeder
I hear you, 100 percent. -
This post does not bode well for the longevity of the game. I think last year did some serious long term damage that has spilled over to this game. Long time players are already getting burned out a week in. Although I’m not totally out of it I can relate in that I’m nowhere near as motivated this year as I’ve been in the past. If my son wasn’t getting into baseball so much I would only be playing a little bit here or there.

I’m kinda in the same boat. When NCAA drops if it’s at all enjoyable mlb the show might go on the shelf

While the game may have its issues and DD could have used some innovation in game modes this year, this sounds like burnout and probably not the game's fault. You can only expect a game to hook you for so long. And when you start to lose interest you will look for excuses to tell yourself why you aren't having fun
At the end of the day its a repetitive game and it always will be.

Come on back to 23 with me Bleeder those teams you had were incredible and those sickity sweet unis you made. My sons been playing this years game and he said he’s not feeling it either. I’ve been holding off from my purchase waiting for posts from yourself and the other top respected users on here before I made my decision and this says a whole lot but we also gotta give ‘em time to see what adjustments they make

This!!!!
I loved to play NCAA football with my boys in the past. I'm looking forward to it coming out as well. This is the only video game I play, but it may drop out of my gameplay completely...very soon.

You're still on 23? Yay! I just got a thrill down my spine. We can put together a couple of teams and have some fun. I'm not ready to give up on 24 yet, but I don't see myself lasting much longer on it.

Man, I'm just not feeling it. Every time my wife asks how the game is, I say something like "Eh. I'm just not engaged this year."
I literally said the exact same thing to my wife last weekend (this is @arvcpa by the way). I've played a little RS, I'm about 1/3 of the way through BR, 1/4 of the way through the USA map, and 1/4 of the way through the "main" Mini-Season. I did the Jeter program.
And... I'm not feeling it either. I don't rush to play the game as I used to do in prior years. For me, it's probably playing a ton in the past 4 years. That's OK. I'll just slow-roll it and see how the year plays out. Maybe there will be a new program I'm interested in.
I'm trying to be realistic since the regular season gets in gear this week. Maybe I'll get more excited.
Also... call me when they develop a true Next-Gen version... I'll be collecting Social Security by then.

@Blind_Bleeder it's EA. Let's not get too excited.

Same here. I had time last night to play and after an hour I shut it off. My wife asked why I wasn't playing when I had time and I told here I was bored. I hope all these chapters aren't rinse and repeat like last year, but it's not looking good.
-
@TripleH-4481 Longevity was probably a goner when they brought back expiring cards. If anything, '24 looks to be more strict and I have a hard time imagining a majority of players looking forward to starting over every season.

I get it because I hit a wall midway through last year. After four years of dedicated grinding, the relentless TA model made me call it quits in August.
Maybe just try to focus on what you enjoy about the game whether it be a specific task or something that doesn't feel like homework. For me as a Yankees fan, I just want to build the ultimate Yankees team this year so that is my mission. Don't have to grind everything to completion and can just focus on the cards I want. Of course they dangled a 99 Andy Pettitte out the gate so I am committed to getting that card, but I've enjoyed being more casual about things. Makes it more fun and way more attainable especially if you don't have tons of time to grind away.
