Something has to be wrong with Ranked Seasons

Admission time. I was almost no hit by Fotf Shohei Ohtani. 8.1 innings before I finally was able to contact swing for a base knock. Lost 1-0.
Anyway, Very Late timing all game long on almost every fastball. Very Early on almost everything offspeed, the game was played at Miller and was horrendously laggy. Offered an FQ after 1 and it got declined. I was only rated 640.
Fast forward after the game. Hop into events. 5-0 in 3 innings. Timing is good/early on Fastballs, I'm able to sit fastball and react to offspeed.
This is by far the most inconsistent, buggy The Show game I've ever played and I'm close to saying that it's on par with 18. If pitch speeds weren't reasonable I'd probably already be there.
Infuriating how inconsistent everything is with this game.

I'd chalk it up to Miller park, the game plays pretty awful in major league stadiums.

Usually it's at least playable, this game was honestly the worst experience I've had playing online.

One man's "inconsistent" is another man's "randomness of life".
The second guy is in marketing.
-
Every online mode should be forced to play only in minor league stadiums. Every major league stadium has crazy lag/input delay online. Will feel like you swinging the bat under water with drag when you play in major league stadiums.
-
It's absolutely broken.
I just finished a 13 inning game. I went against a guy with Gold Saberhagen. He struck me out 20 times in 13 innings. Even with zero energy he was placing pitches on the black. Nothing but dots, he only issued one walk.
But if you think thats bad, I struck him out Thirty times.
I lost on the now standard "outfielder stands under a routine fly ball, but decides to check his text messages as the ball is about to land" glitch.
Thanks SDS, you rock.

It’s funny because I find the same issues in BR vs playing the event right now. The event plays super clean because most people are using minor league stadiums on HOF difficulty. In BR, all-star with major league stadiums is a total crapshoot. Plus a lot more good/okay on well timed/placement swings.
If going 12-1/12-0 wasn’t so rewarding, I’d never try to play it lol.
-
Ohtani has something to do with it. I swear facing that guy in an mlb park is just ridiculous, unless you like swinging the bat underwater.
-
it's so sad that we have to play in minor league stadiums when they have all these beautiful realistic stadiums in the game. How have they not fixed this by now? They have a gorgeous game that plays like it's run on an Atari system. Bunch of clowns! oh but hey don't look now there's new rewards that will be super expensive dropping tomorrow. Everybody get out their debit cards!

Yep, I'm tired of playing 1-0 games where everyone strikes out 20 times. I deleted the game, I don't plan on playing again this year, or in the future. Oh well, it was a good run SDS.
I just tried one last ranked season game. I quit in the 5th inning. Both sides had double digit strikeouts and not a single hit. I guess maybe, that's fun for some people?
-
In my last two games I have struck my two opponents out 40 times, with me striking out 18 times. But I get tons of good okays and they stay in the game until I get a big homerun that puts the games away. My last game I gave up an in the park homerun to jd Martinez because my outfielders couldn’t lock onto the ball, it tied the game and I won. In extras.

Probably a combination of Ohtani and Miller park. I Little Billy'd my way to a win against Ohtani at Citi field and it was just like you described. Couldn't time anything, incredibly laggy. Fortunately for me I was on the good side of RNG that game and I managed to get back to back bloop singles followed by a good/okay homerun (good/okay was deserved, should've been a pop up).
I agree with whoever said online games should have to be played in minor league stadiums. Its a night and day difference. I've taken to offering FQs whenever I'm in a major league stadium

Faced the future Stars Nate Pearson. Couldn't hit him all game but made him throw alot of pitches. Guy was still spotting corners at 102 MPH with his stamina in the red..... It was really fun.

The thing I see is that w these fb speeds, it an animation issue. I mean I know it’s coming, i see it, even swing early, but the pitch is by me before the bat animation is finished therefore making everyone late.
If they’re gonna ramp up the ball Animation, then they should also ramp up the swing animation to match

I really hope someone from SDS is reading this thread, because the OP absolutely sums up my feelings towards the game. I only play RS and this is the worst version of MLB The Show I’ve ever played. It’s not even close any more, ‘18 was a better title. I’ve never felt like this since I played ‘16 on an old TV (I use a monitor now fwiw). Not only is hitting beyond messed up now due to the timing windows, we have to deal with hanging pitches and defenders not tracking the ball. Playing this game online (against Ohtani in particular, but it can be any game) is a miserable unrewarding experience and I’m at a loss as to why SDS have done nothing. Surely if they have access to all this data on the backend that they’re monitoring they can see that this isn’t right at all. What is going on?

I agree it is a trainwreck

That Sabrhagen card is awesome. I use it as one of my 5 starters simply because he is SO accurate.

Just play Showdown instead. Everyone loves that.
-
I've had 10 games where 75% of my opponents hits where home runs there just needs to be more base hits

My last event game was against someone name Ozark in their name. I will preface this with I threw Ohtani with zero energy just to get a few program stars. I did not expect to win or even care at this point. First inning I hit 4 hits in a row including the last 3 extra base hits. I ran into 3 outs because I could not control my runners thanks to the ridiculous lag. Why am I even getting matched with this clown? I would push the button to advance and they would not do anything. After a few seconds I would hit it again and both inputs would kick in and they would run a few feet and turn and go back.
This also was the time (3rd day in 4 days) that I haven't been able to control my pitcher at all. Right down the middle or way outside the zone. Have tried different pitchers, all pitchin methods and wired, wireless and even hot spot. All with the same results. I even played a game with pulse pitching where I walked the bases loaded on 12 pitches even though I started 10 in the zone with good input on pulse.
