Sarah Langs commentary
-
Guys, i love a great story as much as anybody. Sarah Langs is a great baseball analyst on twitter and has earned everything she’s gotten, all while battling the terrible disease that is ALS. Including her in the game is cool, but I cannot in good faith say that this isn’t completely setting her up for failure. I’m sorry, but I just cannot listen to this. You’ll know what I’m talking about when you load up RTTS.
-
You are absolutely right i wasn't sure who it was atleast she has a great story but I had to turn the volume down through the prospect games it almost sounds like they messed her voice up putting it in the game.. it's like her voice is screeching or something I'm not sure what to call it

@b00std_mark_II
It’s just unfair to her. Everyone’s gonna be bashing her, which she absolutely doesn’t deserve. You just dont make people with speech problems baseball announcers. I’m sorry, but it’s true. -
you pretty much have to mute it. you just cant take it very long. its sad
-
On one hand, this is very cool. But this is a video game and I'm afraid she won't be received well. I've heard her before and her voice recording is hard to follow not alone understand the information she is presenting. This is a big miss for inclusivity. I hope it works out well for her.

Ive been listening to the Baseball Tonight podcast with Buster Olney and she’s had a segment on there for years and has even filled in as host before. She’s got an incredible love for the game and her baseball knowledge borders on the level of some kind of statistical demigod. I found myself skipping her parts of the show because it was so hard to distinguish especially for someone like me with hearing loss but I eventually found the solution was to dial the playback speed to 1.5 (take it on my word, you don’t wanna take it slower) because I found that she has a lot of great things to say.
I wonder if they tried anything to clear it up in the studio when they recorded the tracks?
I’m still on the fence about whether or not I’ll play this years game at all but it’s intriguing to know she’s got a part. Goodness this is one we gotta tread lightly on because this is a delicate one
-
I had no idea what was going on. I thought the game was lagging. Oh man.
-
I actually thought they messed up the speech themselves, i had no idea.
-
I won't quote any particular comment above, but just wish to respond in general: she has a terminal disease and speech issues are just a part of her limited time left with us. Perhaps it's best to consider that she has more wisdom and knowledge to share with us than her considerable obstacles demand from us in return.
-
Like @cbpm72_PSN pointed out. She has ALS. That’s what she sounds like now.
-
@BxnnyMxn_
I was going to say the exact same thing (except I usually boost it to 2x). She is too smart and has too many interesting facts and insights to just jump past her segments. But it's getting to the point that it's heartbreaking to hear her struggle more and more as time goes on.
I bet being part of MLBTS24 is a dream come true for Sarah, and she deserves it. But this is just one more reason that I'm glad I'm not on Twitter. I have a feeling there are some buffoons on there who are making buffoons of themselves.

It's terrible. I have no idea who she is or her story, but I'm willing to believe she's a hardcore baseball goddess we could all learn from. That being said, a broadcaster has to have at least a decent voice -- it's a prereq for the job! SDS should have found a way to integrate her into the game in a way that didn't set her up for failure. Baseball fans do read, you know...

I posted a link to her story in this thread if you’d like to read it. It’s truly remarkable and she’s an asset that we probably won’t have with us for much longer sadly

Amen my friend. She’s probably knows more about baseball than everyone in this forum combined. It’s a shame they didn’t add female players to the game when she could still play it.

Cool, I will check it out. Thx. I feel bad but I'll be muting commentary in RTTS if and when I play more.

It's amazing how they chop up all the announcers lines into three second sound bites but the one person it would make sense to do that for, they let talk uninterrupted for minutes.
Yall complain about graphics being PS3 era when their commentary department is stuck in the PS1 era. Also, could they not add captions to aid us understand her better. Sarah knows her stuff though, good on her
-
It’s unfair to her that she’s now going to be associated with “the voice I have to skip because listening to her makes me want to break my playstation”
SDS really f-ed this up
-
Baseball is the Best. That's her motto. She absolutely loves this game and probably has forgotten more baseball knowledge than most of us know. She deserves better than all the negative talk she is getting online by people that don't know the story.

She does. But that's SDS's bad, not ours. All the "negative talk" has actually been quite respectful as well.
You know, SDS could have had her write a strategy manual for the game we could access in-menu, complete with photos of her, etc.
As someone else said, they f--ed up.
