The pause timer

Ok, I'm not mad about losing to someone online. But the guy I just played ran the timer down to 0 3 times on me. He kept pausing the game multiple times on me. The first time it hits 0 on me I went to hit the forfeit button on him and he timed it just right to continue the game and he did that every time. I'm not mad about the loss. I'm mad because sds hasn't fixed this problem yet. Like when the pause timer runs out the game should end.

I am not with you that the game should end automatically. It could be the 1 time and we had an awesome game … then I maybe don‘t want to end it this way…
BUT: We have too much pause time, but as I remember correctly, we had a SDS survey on this … so I expect change (shorten time) coming

Yeah one of the oldest tricks in the book that these sad kids will try to pull on you. Some do it when they're losing big time and then when the timer hits 0, you can hit square (or I guess X on Xbox) for them to forfeit the game and you get the W. Now these kids will actually let it run down to 1 second and then quickly send a friendly quit instead, knowing that people are ready to hit that button to get out of that game and the toxic behavior, to quickly get the W before they unpause and most don't actually read what's on the screen because of that. Many have fallen for this nonsense and many more will.

@Bluffmusican I miss the day they had the survey on because of work. Thank you for letting me know that the pause timer was one of the things on the survey that they are trying to fix.

@Bluffmusican There needs to be “pause time”. I’ve used it many times for a quick bathroom break. However, it should not refresh. I feel like a total of 2 1/2 minutes that DOES NOT refresh, is PLENTY of “pause time”!

I think … a pause timer reflects the amount of time, a manager makes his decisions … That could vary. If I use it early in the game … and the game is a blowout … I do not have to think that much. But what about sudden change …
If I remember correctly, the survey had some options like „The base time should be lower … and the add-on time should be much less“. That is what I voted for …Other than that: A ranked game can take over 40 minutes … Less time should satisfy everyone. Everybody who doesn‘t have the time to wait for someone to get out of a „short break“ should maybe play another mode

I’m fine with a 3 minute pause timer but I think they need to remove allowing time to be added back on….3 minutes for the entire game is plenty of time if you’re playing legit.

I need on average 1 minute to pee. So give me at least 2 minutes. As I get another beer in 40 seconds.
But.
But
SDS should really have a menu in play to warm up the bullpen which doesn’t impact the pause timer. Like a quick menu. R3 brings it up etc. it’s very common in virtually all other sports games. That would solve the problem.

You know what else is really common in other sports games? 30 seconds or you lose. How broken down are some of you guys that you can’t tell wether you need to go potty in the next 30 minutes or not.

Some people have emergencies that pop up in the middle of a game.
You all sound like it takes hours to play a game.

Another side of this that maybe should get more discussion or attention is WHEN the game allows the pause.
The mid at bat pauses should go away, for one. There is already the D pad step out/call time for if the pitcher is taking too long.
The “I’m tired of my opponent fouling off pitches so I’m going to pause and then try to sneak a fastball by him” tactic needs to go away, as well.
I know pitching changes can be made in the middle of at bats irl, so I begrudgingly accept these, but in summary, I think the game should not otherwise allow pauses in the middle of an at bat.

The thread started with someone complaining about a cheaser who ran the pause timer down on purpose … having too much pause timer to spend to „I do not like pausing when I do not like it“ …
Guys, SDS did a poll about it … so not one thread, where 12 people complained … a poll, where prob lots of people told them how to reduce it. So they were aware of something … Reducing is awesome, getting rid of … not.
… but hey, it is a video game. If you don‘t want people to take a quick break (which most do … not everyone is a cheaser), then go out and play real baseball … This last paragraph should not be taken too seriously

Yeah but I’ve had ranked games last for over an hour before. 30 seconds won’t work.
If they reduced it that much I wouldn’t play ranked. I like to have a drink and play. I need my bathroom breaks. Getting old. Can’t hold it in.
Like I said. A quick menu should be available
And maybe 3 minutes each, 5 times maximum pausing per game. And the time doesn’t keep going up.
For BR and events. 1 minute maximum.

Make it like a chess timer. You run out of time, you lose.

@halfbutt I agree with this. I hate pitching changes in the middle of an at bat. It’s cheese in my opinion.

@lewisnadasurf1 150 seconds total, (no refresh) is plenty of time for the pause menu. My opinion.

@YOSHI24 well, balks are in real life but not in the game. Again, I’m well aware I’m in the minority on wanting balks in the game. I mean……it’s whatever I guess. Not gonna keep me from playin.
