How do you honestly feel about this year?
-
I certainly haven't hated Sets and Seasons, but I am kind of over it I guess. I think the Extreme program was by far the most rewarding so far this year, and am very glad Griffey is a Core card. I'm looking forward to Season 4 though as I'm sure we'll see the Postseason cards, and I hope the Team Affinity rewards are the best we've seen. I guess I'll have to see how it all shapes out.
-
I have played like 61 innings this RS, not even 7 full games. I would normally do that on a Friday night or Saturday. Not playing very much because the game plays terrible online. Haven't done like the last 3 programs or BR because if online isn't fun what's the point.
-
The game feels ok to me but there’s just nothing to play for. The content seems meh. And the Griffey card seems good but I don’t like how they’re telling us who is game end because of the core tag.
-
Online rated with over 500 games played on HOF hitting and Legend pitching, by far the most I’ve played in awhile. Was in a couple leagues so additional games played this is by far the best installment of the series
-
I don’t get too worked up over content so I’m fine with how it went this year. I’m always more interested in gameplay and I feel like this year the gameplay is the best it’s been since at least 19.

Same.
Kaiju was weird, but some of the cards do slap.
As an offline player, I always have something to do, since I work 5 days a week.
I still have the Extreme Conquest, because I finished the program w/o it and the SD. I still have the USA map that I haven't touched, and 2 City Connect jersey conquests to finish. Incredibly, it's the Braves & Orioles, which could be our real-life WS! I didn't plan that. We'll see.
This still satisfies my 'baseball fix.' Scoring runs and striking fools out, and playing in created stadiums is a blast. It's also fun putting together so many different lineups and testing our managerial skills a bit. Playing on Legend in Mini-Seasons and going 5-7 was an experience that showed me that pitching IS my strength, but it can be conquered, I think! Pitching and defense go a long way.
The crack of the bat is still glorious, lol, but I wish they kept the Showdown walk-off celebration, which added more than they know! I also wish we still heard: 'The stronghold is theirs' after CQ wins.
It's still fun. -
I do not mind the sets for collection purposes and it leads to diversity however 4-5 cards of the same player is boring

I started playing this game when it came to Xbox a few years ago. To me it feels like it's gotten worse each year. My time on the game has also gone down over that time aswell. I've put quite a bit of time in this year's version but not like the others but it just feels like the grind was too much and the rewards weren't worth it. The collection, online and rare cards in packs seem to be the best and most pain in the ace to get. SDS definitely got extra greedy this year and it shows. The grind just wasn't worth the squeeze to me compared to previous years.
-
I like it . I like the sets and seasons and captains.
-
Some good, some bad. Just like any year.
I like the captain addition, although a better thought out release would be nice. I think the sets and seasons actually hurts this. Having the live series collection tied to each team is nice, but is never used because I don't know of anyone that actually uses a full live team lineup, let alone just one team of them. What good is that Tim Salmon card without the ability to use him appropriately. Haven't seen the Captain Captain card, but I'm sure that one's coming. Too many.
Lots of 99s, but I already spent over $100 on the game. Cant' keep most of them if I want to complete the collections.
Great game additions. The entire NBL is awesome. Jeter is better than I thought he'd be. Still some glaring absences, but SDS can't control the families of the deceased. It sure would be nice to have Cobb, Williams, and Yaz though.
RTTS is a complete failure this year. Still can't make a pitcher, or any player, worth bringing over to DD. Broken! Pitcher attribute problem persists after months.
MTO has been great. Still need choices for callups and fast tracks, and trades are laughable. Otherwise, best offline mode to me.
All in all, a mediocre installment. Looking forward to when they stop supporting PS4 and Xbox One for new installments. Switch will still bring it down, but until Nintendo puts out a worthy console, online will always be lacking some.
-
I saw from the beginning the potential drawbacks of Sets and Seasons and almost all of them have come to pass. From making us buy/grind for multiple best versions of the same player so that they are eligible in the current season to having to use lesser versions of players as you go deeper into the season.
Team based theme teams seem to be getting weaker with every new season.
I enjoyed the ride up to a point but have barely played in August and will probably play less in Sept.
-
Coming from me this might sound weird, EA does one thing right. Start at a lower Ovr, and work up more slowly. First 99 being the WS MVP. No 90s to start Live series. First non collection 90+ in first program. Pretty much all 99s by Dec/Jan. Set restrictions hasn't worked. It's time to try something else. Put all cards in standard packs, people will buy if there is a chance they will get the current top card in the game and a guaranteed Diamond. All current programs can still be used. Just don't go overboard or use multiple currencies.

I forgot about the NBL. Those 99's were/are nice.
I disagree with MTO, only because it seems they don't want you to win with the cheating I've seen.
And forget those 'Finish the no-hitter' scenarios. I beat it once in 3-4 years, and only did MTO to get the Trophy/Achievements.
I wouldn't say mediocre, just an off Trea Turner like year for SDS. Sorry Philly fans -

NBL was definitely the big win this year.
Good points

I like the captain stuff although I barely use it
Hitting wise. PP are not very rewarding on the most part but it does seem to reward better swings than previous games. Last year I seem to remember much more flukes.
Pitching is horrible. PAR means nothing. You get the occasional pitch down the middle for no reason.
Content is boring and the best cards are hidden behind 20 hour grinds or a paywall.
I don’t like the sets. Most people end up having the same team. Already.
I give gameplay this year 7/10. Content 5/10.
-
To summarize my year:
Launch - end of April, had a blast. Great content, great gameplay. Still knew sets would ruin it all but I got my $70 worth.
May - end of June. Starting to die. Content was slow, only cards in programs were 92-97s. The thing holding this game up was how great Set 1 was and that they were still usable.
June - July. They seemed to focus on TA 3 and All Star content. Extreme was the most fun I’ve had with it before. Great time for content. Downside was this was the peak of everyone abusing the stamina glitch.
Once the excitement of Extreme wore off. The game died for me. Content was a slow crawl, programs require buying cards again, went a couple of weeks with barely anything except new Diamond Duos.
Unfortunately that’s it for me. I don’t see myself getting back into MLB again this year. The content structure was awful, sets/seasons need to be gone or I 100% won’t be buying 24. Hopefully they learned their lesson.
-
These last 2 posts sum it up pretty good. I would give gameplay about a 4 due to connections/servers. Pretty on par with 18 for me as far as product.
-
So for me i don't like the new content format, not a fan of expiring cards and doing mass collection fodder to get a 99 card vs 99s in high value packs. S3 was pretty much ruined by Stamina glitch and set 1 glitch and they let it go unchecked for so long without even a oops my bad sorry guys from SDS. I've done the surveys, so they have my opinion.
Things i do like are the POTM Programs, how ya able to to em in a day, and field a usable team ie the Ohtani POTM was a really good one.
Gameplay seems alright as well, I haven't had many issues with lag at all total of 2 freeze up since launch of the game.
