And a Capt effect to boot
I can’t take playing w F Alvarez and his silly stats when I can easily have my Gary fix as a real Met.

I didn’t know you were a Mets fan. I am a firm believer that today is the day you can look back at as the hinge in which your season turns around. Luckily, other than The Braves and the upstart D’Backs who I don’t expect to last, the NL is awful this year.
I am a Padres fan by birth and a Cardinals fan by blood. My family is from St. Louis and I was told early on I would either root for the red birds or eat elsewhere. That’s a daunting proposition when you’re 2. It’s been a solid ride though.
Back to the OPs post, I would love a solid Mets Gary Carter. He was a great card as their LS collection reward last year. Perm and all.

I can relate to your story about the Cardinals except in my family it’s the Vols. I’ve been asked many times how a hillbilly from the Smokies can be a Mets fan. Two words: ‘Ho’ and ‘Jo’. Loved him. Love him. Love the Amazin’s!

It was very nice indeed! I have my fingers crossed that SDS took note of that as well. I’d love to see a sparkly new card to the franchise (am I correct? or has he been on an earlier version?) before the year is up. Switch hitter with great power and speed…sure he liked to throw the ball into the stands instead of 1B here and there but that just adds character!

Love me some Gary Carter but much like yourself I enjoyed my time using Supercharged Francisco Alvarez and have been hawking his Future Stars for the longest of times, almost to the point where I'm ready to part with a couple of pulls that I got to get him off the market but being a hoarder is stopping me from doing it... but yeah man the "Baby" Mets have been a joy to watch as I hope the Mets can turn this thing around to make this season more enjoyable overall.

Mets Season 2 Cap was Leiter so we know it'll be a position player. And we know the Nationals/Expos WON'T have Captain Carter b/c Robles was the Season 2 Cap.

Another fantastic thing about Gary Carter (the list is enormous) was his great performances in the All-Star Game. He won the MVP a couple of times, hit some memorable homers, and who could forget the incredible play blocking the plate as he received that incredible heat-seeking missile launched from The Cobra!
Homering in an All-Star game would just have to be such an euphoric experience…on the stage will all your contemporaries and rising to the top! The man had ice water in his veins. He didn’t even flinch when that unforgettable 1986 season came down (essentially) to him and rested on his very capable shoulders.
