No respect for Kerry Wood

So either the writer who wrote the commentary or the broadcaster who ad libbed his vast knowledge of the game doesn’t know who struck out 20 batters in a game. He rattled off the very short list and left off poor Kerry Wood.

Kerry wood may have been the best pitcher is baseball for like a two or 3 year span. I kinda forget why he tailed off. Maybe injury?

Yes. His high school coach used him non stop his senior year, then Dusty did what Dusty does best. Destroy pitchers. Poor guy never had a chance.

Ummm yeah, Im gonna have to, disagree. lol Office space reference.
Nah, but he had a good Month or 2 his rookie season I believe. Then got hurt and came back and never was dominant again but was serviceable. Led the league in K's one year.

Wow man I just went on baseball reference and looked up his career stats and you’re absolutely right. He must’ve been a total ESPN hype train player. He had a decent ERA a few years in the low 3s and 34 saves one year but I thought he won way more games. He was a bit of a flame out. Was it due to injury? I can’t really remember.

Before the injury he could have been one of the big stars in baseball. He had Tommy John surgery but was one of the few who never returned to original form.
