Captain cards

You have to Tier 3 to get rid of the negative boost... and so far (in my limited use of captains) the negative "boost" hasn't affected how the team played when I have had a Tier 1 or Tier 2 boost for my team active.

Aren't the negative boosts being removed in today's patch? I thought that was mentioned in the patch notes.

That’s what I read in their notes too, but every TA captain I’ve checked remains unchanged. Very confused. Between this and the unfixed play vs. CPU crashes, SDS is losing some credibility with me so far this year.

To this point in time I do not see that as a choice.
The 99’s rule
I would prefer a themed squad w boosts which makes things more interesting imo.
90% of my online games are with an all captain squad using Jeter for the boost. I’m about 42-36ish. Somewhere in that neighborhood. It’s a cool concept and completely new to the game. Keeps me interested.

I like the Jeter boost too. Contact R/L and Clutch…all +15.
Here’s the sad thing. Captains were actually a GREAT IDEA. The negative attributes were the one small flaw.
But…what ruined all of it was the introduction of all these ridiculous 97/99 cards from the jump.
Immediately made the entire concept and implementation of Captains almost completely worthless.

To add also I don't think SDS considered some things with captains and the reason for them not being used as much. There are some good useable ones like Hoffman that I use, but for example I created a Pirates squad with Cutch as my captain for a few ranked season games, but that tied down a lot of stubs, it's not like I'm gonna run a Pirates squad all year, so I ended up selling it back, I can't just switch from captain to captain because I don't have enough cards to do so

from what I saw this week they are still on Tier 1... I didn't notice it on Tier 2 or 3 though.

I personally see Captain Will Smith in my Dodgers team build and that team with tier 3 is a monster team, Gets to over 100 in all hitting except for contact v Right but that's high 90s then all my other cards are 95+
