Since he is set 1, if I buy him now, am I correct in assuming I can’t use him when set 3 comes out? I rarely play online. So if i can still use him offline then i would still buy.

Yes. All set 1 (and eventually set 2) cards expire on July 7th, except for the card you designate as the wild card.

You will be able to use him for unrestricted content like the USA Conquest map and base Mini Season. You should also be able to use him for any non-expiring content that allows Set 1 cards.
You most likely will not be able to use him for any Season 3 specific Conquest or Mini Season content.

Don't have to worry about Season 3 Mini Seasons. He can't even use the card now in Mini Seasons. Well, he can use it but it doesn't matter.

From what I understand, you can use them in H2H (except where you have restrictions like events) but they won’t cumulate XP towards programs related to them, like Conquest maps associated to them, but like said above, USA and shark maps will be available to put in your lineup. Otherwise, barring them from everything would be pointless and quite stupid.

Little caveat to that. You will be able to switch your wild card anytime you want. It’s not restricted to only one card forever
