People will hold the R2 button while they are hitting …this prevents the pitcher from starting their delivery. This causes the movement to hang on Pinpoint or even Analog, which then will often result in a meatball or something out of the zone.

You can only call time once. And if they took r2 away people would just pause.
Many people pitch unrealistically fast, and some pitchers have cheesy rhythms, and the game doesn't require pitchers to come set. r2 counters this.
I'm not defending people who spam it. But I am saying that what we have now is likely the best solution to an impossible problem.
If they take away r2, pitchers should have to come set.

exactly. it is there to prevent quick pitching and because you dont have to come set. Imagine the outrage if your had to come set every pitch (user input).....balk city

I’m all for pitchers having to come set. Bring back balks while we’re at it.

Yes please. I can't believe we still don't have to come set as this is somewhat of a simulation game. Force to come SET and only allow R2 prior to coming set or even remove it all together. It is ridiculous when you have to hit against squid ward the balking pitcher with all their limbs moving and the balls coming at you without time to process any information. fast pitching is more of a cheese than R2.
