I'm even regressing my hitting from the 1st day I got the game (hit 6 homeruns first day and was only striking out twice a game)
How do people go about getting better at hitting?
because just playing the game isn't helping me, seems to be only hurting me as I get more frustrated.Being selective,and waiting for my pitch worked wonders for me

because just playing the game isn't helping me, seems to be only hurting me as I get more frustrated.Try taking a few pitches, don't be afraid of striking out, the cpu throws a lot of balls but when you go into a 2-0 count it tends to start throwing cookies. Patience is always most important with this game.
Also try playing on All Star or above because those perfect ground balls will start to find there way through the infield.
As long as you can shutdown the CPU pitching wise you should be fine just wait out the hits. Yes it's harder this year but you will get better and see yourself hitting more home runs soon enough.

With that said i understand frustration. I played a 9 inning conquest game yesterday against the Rangers and they walked it off with a sac fly to my worst fielder (Alveraz, yes i know he should have been my DH). Like really though lol

In MTO I took over a tie game in top of 7th inning. Didn't get my 1st hit until bottom of inning 27 (a bloop single to center for walk off win)
Went almost 20 full innings on veteran hitting before getting a single hit

In MTO I took over a tie game in top of 7th inning. Didn't get my 1st hit until bottom of inning 27 (a bloop single to center for walk off win)
Went almost 20 full innings on rookie veteran hitting before getting a single hiti went 0-20 in the WBC moment with salvador perez. P/P outs, amazing diving plays in gap...just unreal. finally got the xbh on a early timing hr.
the game doesnt like to reward you for actually getting good user input.

I used to be a terrible hitter. Then i began to take a more realistic approach. Work counts, key in on location and anticipate pitches. Buggest was not being afraid to take a strike. The game does reward you for good at bats. It's hard to take a walk in a video game, but this is meant to simulate baseball. I play on HoF, and score 10+ runs fairly regularly. Several things that really helped me:
- Turned the difficulty UP. I played on veteran, but playing with higher pitch speeds and break forced me to to look for and anticipate pitches in specific parts if zone
-Waggle my pci. Always helped me feel ready to hit. Get a ore- pitch routine. Mine is circle circle, tap left/inside 3 times. - 3-0 counts (most) take your right thumb off buttons completely. Track the back with left stick still, just for practice.
- know what to look for in certain counts. 2-0, 3-1 counts should be geared up for fastball and looking in specific location
Play it more like real baseball, and you get better outcomes. I'm still not a great hitter, but I've improved a ton over the years just modifying my approach. Also realize some people are just cracked at this game

yeah I don't care how good someone else is as I will never have to worry about it. I only play against the computer because I would strike out 20+ times against a decent player
So pitch speed are faster on harder difficulties?
The problem I see with going up to all star difficulty is I'll end up losing 95% of my games. Which would frustrate me even more
On rookie I average 3.5 runs a conquest game.
On Veteran I average like 2 runs a game (many games I don't win until extra innings when I get the free base runner on 2nd)And the few games over the years where I pitched on ALL Star difficulty I was giving up like 3 runs a game (which means I would have to improve my hitting by like 100% which seems unlikely)
Guess I can try a couple games on All Star, as I doubt it can make me that much worse of a hitter then I am right now. Just kind of really hate to lose

I actually have a harder time on veteran now. Everything is a slow beach ball. It's baseball. Hitting you're going to fail the majority of the time. Just be OK with that. Focus on improving your AB's, not being perfect

Yeah, rookie and Veteran are pretty much gimme wins. Once you hit All-star it's just AI dictated animation..that's why you might have a tendency to lose a lot more. It's not that you are necessarily not prepared for All-star, it's just that at All-star level the AI really starts taking liberties with the animation. Reticle doesn't move half the time.
Don't get down on yourself, you can't beat code.

I know I might be the unicorn of this forum based on the amount of DD players here. But I hope this year the game isn't too easy. I'm coming from a PS4 with terrible frame rates, like 30-40 in certain parks and I played on Franchise on Legend at max pitch speeds. Now that I've moved onto a PS5 with basically 120 htz I feel pitch recognition might be too easy. Any others experiencing this?
