Good to know it's not just me. Like I put in the title, observations, not complaints. Don't know how I feel about it yet.
Why are you so worried about making sure people know you're not complaining? If you have a valid complaint you should be able to speak freely. Who cares if people label you a certain way?
Hey there - curious to see if you've played yet and what your thoughts are. I label you as "someone I trust to give a well-thought-out assessment".
I appreciate you, and no I have not played yet and will not for a good while. I was very disappointed with the tech test and for once I really felt like I could no longer in good conscience pay money for something that I believe to be way below par. I might pick it up later when it's discounted, even though it pains me because I do really love baseball and love what this game used to be (or can become).

I have seen a lot of these balls that just don't carry, I'm also smashing a bunch of homers at the same time, lot of other hits that used to be outs are dropping, the track power hits are annoying but I ll take it with all the greatness that hitting is right now.

I couldn't care less about what people think, generally. I'm 48 and teach high school, so I have practice at that...But it's true that posting anything critical usually leads to some type of immature flame war. Just trying to set the tone, that's all. Don't read so much into things.

Fair enough - I'll just say this tho; if someone is enticed to resort to immature flaming over a critical opinion and/or constructive feedback, I fear setting the tone isn't gonna do much.

this game is much harder this year. all aspects, hitting fielding pitching. maybe i just need to get use to it. i am frustrated w/ hitting right now as someone said it's 'nerfed' but I welcome the challenge. it is more realistic but i dont know if that will translate to more fun in the long run. will wait and see.
I am only doing the WBC program moments right now. So those first round moments have been a real pain. in past games, i would have got thru those easy, but some of these I have to do like 20 times just to get thru. I think one reason is ratings seem to matter this year. These lower rated players should not have an easy time hitting hrs. I do feel like when I was doing the semi and final moments in WBC, the players were rated better and I was having more success.

Hitting is the best it’s been in the 4 years I’ve played The Show️ It finally feels like input matters. Love the hit variety and I haven’t noticed many, if any off PCI HR’s.
-
Content: I Think they nailed the concept of offering a choose your own adventure for content, I can totally see the pros and cons of going for big collections as well as purchasing set one cards now, there will certainly be a variety of cards being used!
-
Servers: I haven’t been disconnected at all. Knock on wood.
L’s:

too many Perfect / Perfect outs. I don’t need or want a home run or hit every single time, but the amount of liners directly into an infielders glove as well as the maximum power perfect fly out to the warning track simply happen too often, if they could reduce the amount of perfect perfect outs by about 10 to 15% then I think hitting would be as close to perfect as we could ask for

iOS app not being updated…seriously!!??
Nitpicking / Annoying tweaks I would love:
-
I think they should really increase the amount of wild cards to one pitcher and one hitter slot, having both wildcard slots would soften the blow of so many cards from set one dropping off in July. Honestly, I would even be fine with two hitting and two pitching wildcard slots but I know that is pushing it!
-
The set 1 collection rewards (Ruth, Jones and Martinez) should be core cards. If we’re collecting 150+ cards and or locking in a bunch of stubs those cards should be usable all year! Personally, I would be focusing all my stubs on the set one collection if I knew I could keep Babe Ruth and Pedro Martinez for the whole year.
-
we should be able to repeat show down at least three times for team affinity. Call me a lazy old complainer, but I do not have the patience to do multiple mini seasons for the vouchers, we should have the option to complete showdown a couple more times per division if we have the skill to do so.
Overall the game is a BLAST so far. So much to do and I haven’t even done the Negro league stuff or ballplayer grind.

This is by far the most realistic hitting has been in quite a while. I can actually have fun with contact hitters.
Biggio with quirks is a menace

We should be allowed more than 1 wildcard. That’s my only concern moving forward. My TT is going to be screwed only having 1 wildcard all year.

That All star Trevor story mixed with all star captain Harper is going to be missed later in the game cycle

if nerfed means lowering the power def yes.
last few games balls I hit easily go out.
I am not playing this years game, so I don't know personally how it is working, but would it not be easier to either:
A - fix the issues caused by the field being way too tiny?
B - stop making everybody with 125 power? Those two issues combined cause way too many issues.
-
agreed on the power. the most bombs i have is with harry ford (4) and that gold 84 Dee Gordon has been one of my best hitters. easy liners over SS all day.

I did all the WBC moments EXCEPT the 2 extra base hits with Joey Meneses, for some reason I just can't get it done.

So far I feel this is the best version of the game since probably 17. Hitting feels much more rewarding. I still see cheap hits which happens in baseball and should be in the game. What frustrated me most in previous years was bad contact resulting in really hard hit balls. Now if you make bad contact you may get a cheap hit once in a while but you are not crushing it. Only played about ten ranked games so still in all star but I’m assuming HOF will be even better.

Story is Core. Im going to lose Bard, Blackmon, and 96 Arenado and that’s just after the release content. Unless I wildcard one of them. And it’s not like the Rockies get much content to begin with (deservingly so) so I will definitely have holes in my bullpen losing one of the best bullpen arms we’ll get all year. But this system basically makes me not want my team to get any set cards, only core. Even if they aren’t top tier. I just want to use the players I like.

The field definitely doesn't feel tiny anymore, fielders don't cover ground like they used to,power is still there but it's different, maybe cause of how big the field seems.
Hitting feels great,we get annoyed cause it's not like it was ( the ball carrying and flying out) but I prefer it like this. -

Against the CPU, in Conquest, on Rookie/Veteran...
Power is nerfed. Warning track shots with 115 power perfect-perfect shots. Several.
CPU pitchers throw down the middle a lot less than last year.
Lots of perfect-perfect lineouts. Lots of them.
Too early to whine too much, but sheesh.
Also, love the changes made to Mini Seasons and RTTS.
I think the hitting feels the best in years. May need a slight buff to power but other than that I love getting singles over and over with contact hitters.
My biggest gripe is the CPU. They don’t swing the bat. They don’t consistently throw in the zone… and honestly that just makes it boring at times bc of the lack of action on the CPUs behalf lol

I am averaging 1 run a game, and that's barely in my conquest games on rookie

The game plays way better on AS. You should play Conquest at least on Veteran and move up from there. I know the timing windows are really small but if you play on higher levels than rookie, it will make you a better hitter in the long run. Good luck.
