I personally wish none of the HR record cheaters were in the game. I can' t forget them lying in court on TV, or just how they went along with it for so long. I felt personally cheated, even though I know how silly that sounds
im completely with you too mate

It’s complicated with the steroid guys. If baseball had a hard stance from the beginning and stuck to it I would be like “yah, keep ‘em out of the games/HOF” however Major League Baseball sat back and enjoyed the fat stacks of cash that all the HRs were bringing in. For me the hypocrisy of the MLB regarding the whole thing has made me sympathetic towards the guys who used steroids. Also too many people think steroids is a magical “be great at baseball” button but there where plenty of guys who were juicing and still couldn’t make it so there is still a lot of skill involved.

Bud Selig knew it was going on but did nothing. He saw that the steroid guys were saving the game of baseball after the 94 strike by filling the stands with the HR streaks. Ironically he is in the HOF and the players suspected of using are cast away like dirt. Make no mistake that baseball is all about money PERIOD. Look at Manfred with all his stupid new rules trying to shorten game times. The biggest delay to games is the commercial breaks between innings where baseball gets paid big dollars by advertisers. You think for a minute they are going to lose that? Nobody will admit that though. I say put all of the users in the game. Its just a video game.

You do realize who else you'd be excluding, right?
Aaron, Mantle, Mays ... gone!

Amphetamines aren't steroids. There are levels to this.
The other guy said "HR record cheaters," so fair enough on your part.
I'll update it to "steroid users during the steroid era."

Does this mean Pete Rose is not far behind?

Sorry if i am late but Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire in the game? That's it take my money (even though I use game pass). If these two are in game then you HAVE to put Barry Bonds or at someone like A-Rod or Clemens at some point maybe not this year but next year but who knows.
Putting Bonds on the cover for MLB the Show 24 will sell more copies...

While I agree with most of what you said, MLB does care about money over everything else. However regarding the commercial breaks, 100% right that would shorten the game on tv but in person it would do nothing. I’m more likely to be able to convince my wife to go to a 7pm game and stay for the whole thing since she won’t be worried about getting home at 1 in the morning. Not all change is bad. -

(I’m not including you in that group) Appreciate your views you shared.

It’s not MLB , SDS , the Government , etc. Barry Bonds himself doesn’t allow his NIL to be used in video games. He wasn’t even in the game when he was still an active player for the Giants. It’s basically the same situation why Charles Barkley isn’t in NBA 2K. He don’t allow it.

I felt just like you did sir…………until the real truth came out. The owners were behind it all. The owners cultivated a culture of “don’t ask, don’t tell” because the turnstiles were spinning like never before!!! They were more than willing to look the other way cuz business was booming and the strike scared the bejesus out of them. Furthermore, if you’re a young kid trying to break through and all you gotta do is take a needle and that might secure a contract to take care of your family for the rest of your life and your children’s lives…….and the owners “don’t care”?? SIGN ME UP!! I don’t blame a single one of them. Then the owners turned their backs on them. Bud Selig is in the hall and quite a few players are not, but should be!

You said it all right here sir!!! I’ve been saying this for years and nobody wants to hear it! Leadership starts at the top and that means ownership! I don’t blame a single players. The owners knew and all turned their backs on the players.

Palmeiro didn't help anyone's case either, but I am not seeing anyone asking for him to be in the game...they should give these guys 175 power across the board, allow for the PEDs to crossover onto the game platforms

MLB didn’t add steroids to the banned substance list until 1991. Which imo means anyone who played prior to that potentially used. Guys like Ruth , Mays , Clemente , Mantle and so on , and even though they banned them in 91 , they didn’t start testing really until 03 , which throws guys like Bichette , Griffey , Chipper and so on into the potentials conversation.
Until baseball can present a better argument than ‘these guys were caught’ I’ll continue to assume every player was using whatever they had at their disposal to either gain advantage or level the playing field.

Would you accept a triumphant return of a one Mr. Reggie Stocker?

But, if you brought Bonds into the game would it really represent his prestigious abilities (juiced or otherwise)? I mean, we've got a boatload of 99's floating around at this very moment that are about as topped out as a card can be. It's pretty much a bunch of nearly identically rated cards with different faces/names.
I'm pretty sure Bonds had more detractors than fans. His own doing. Comes from the Cristiano Renaldo school of "Your love makes me strong..your hate makes me unstoppable". IMO, the skinny Bonds was one of the greatest players ever..the 'roids just solidified the fact. Still believe him to be a poster child for the narcissistic modern athlete that has zero genuine allegiance to the fans that made 'em. Take him or leave him..just another 99 brick in the wall.
