As a die hard Cub fan I would have actually rejoiced if Pujols had been on the cover, but as usual SDS will spit in their player bases' face whenever possible.
As far as I know they have never gotten the rights to a player the year after they retired. I expect no Pujols or Molina in the game this year.
I understand that, but it is almost like they went out of their way to put the guy who kissed their behinds this summer instead of someone much more deserving. But I guess they went with the "even negative talk is still talk" method.

While there are certainly better choices, I have to imagine there are players who are asked that pass on it. A lot of the more veteran players may not want to go through the hassle of flying out to San Diego and doing photo shoots etc. A younger player may be more likely to do it to build their brand and Im sure there is some kind of payout to do it. It's possible they went through a few players before someone said yes.

I don't care about the cover at all, but putting a guy like Jazz on there shows the level of poverty this franchise has become. Sorry not sorry.

And Tatis was terrible in 21 :). Can you imagine though if he was the cover athlete last year and all that happened? SDS would have been so bummed.

It’s almost like they are going for a younger audience instead of worrying about what a bunch of miserable pricks(myself included on that) on the forums who represent a small percentage of the player base and are already set on getting the game or not think.
Also implying that the cover athlete has any correlation to how the game quality will be is as dumb as saying directional hitting is competitive

Have all of those guys said they play the show like that? I don’t see a few in that list playing video games much.

I don’t mind it. As long as the game is fun. Ohtani being the cover athlete didn’t get me “excited”. Tatis got me excited. Jazz seems to be an energetic and passionate guy, hopefully that energy and passion relates to the game itself.
