Anyone else probably not getting Mantle?

I'm a "no money spent" player and haven't put in as many hours this year as in the past. Showzone estimates 20-27 million stubs needed if starting the collection from scratch, sure beats out the 2.2 million I had saved up lmao. At the moment, Mantle seems unattainable for anyone who hasn't done extensive grinding\flipping from the start
I think if you are able to hit World Series pretty easily and early on….do the moments in a try or two it’s not that much of a commitment at all to get mantle.
-
Most should be able to get him come the forever program as that is when they rerelease the henchmen and program bosses. I have up to Rollins but haven't used it. Would like to get dibble as he was one of the best gold cards around for pitching for a long time.

I play 1-2 hours a day max and 3-5 nights a week. So no, I won’t be getting mantle, Othani or any other cars locked behind “play 500 hours a day” walls.
Same here. And I could rant a lot more about this. I preordered the game and played at least a few hours each day but didn’t do a ton of flipping this year. And I’m really disappointed I won’t be getting Randy, Shohei and Trout. They shouldn’t just go to mainly legend level players.
-
I hate flipping so I was really banking on the postseason roster update and made about a million off that. Then I just had to catch up on the September monthly awards and I unlocked him. Had to overpay like crazy for one more Takashi card tho. A lot of prices should come down once the final program drops. Mantle is also not necessary in order to enjoy the game

I might be able to get him but I really don’t want to spend all those stubs to get him. He was way more expensive that I expected.
What else is there to spend stubs on? Batting gloves?
I’m not saying I won’t buy him but I’m not in a rush. I’m gonna see what the market does in the next week or so. I’m definitely not trying to buy a Takashi card for almost a million stubs that won’t even touch the field.
That will be the collection I skip.
I would do the same but the rookie cards are so hard to get and I kinda want Ohtani. I have enough stubs to get him now. I might as well just do it. I put a order in for the new Randy too,
I collected the Rookie cards early, I know the Rookies, Vet, and Prime can be hard to get this late.

it is obtainable by flipping, I did spend most of this last weekend flipping and bought a ton of cards. I am still need more, I had already started collecting more once the Rollins collection dropped. It was nothing crazy. I have played a lot less this year. I was not ready at all for any of the collections Brett, McCuthchen or Rollins, I have got all of those done. It takes a lot of flipping or grinding but flipping is faster.
With the amount of reward cards being handed out on a silver platter, I barely flipped at all this year. Hindsight is 20/20, if only I had known since launch that Mantle was would be the ultimate collection
-
I will never get him! The fumbled the releases of a lot of players!
-
I have 15–18 of Cutch and won’t finish the other 3 most likely needing rookie veterans and all stats and rookies about 10 of them so won’t see Mantle or Rollins ever
-
Got Mantle last night, tbh, all it took was 20 event wins and the 100pts on BR. So about 7-8 hours of grinding to get about 3.5m worth of players i needed.
I love this game this late in the cycle, its so easy to make stubs and so many nice cards to choose from.
-
Finished up Mantle collection yesterday. Didn’t start flipping until about mid November. Since then, I collected Cutch, Rollins and Mantle. Really made a ton off of flipping Oneil Cruz future stars, Honus Wagner milestone and Hank Aaron FOTF. There are windows where you can get 200K in an hour just flipping them.
-
I’m literally 2 award cards, approx 450k worth, away.

I have every purchasable card from the past 2 years (save Vizcaino) and I haven’t spent 20 million combined.

I may be about as far from getting Mantle as anyone who has been playing since day 1.
That makes 2 of us. I did Manage to get Rollins. Now what to do with 2.3 million stubs that won’t be enough for Mickey.
-
Played since day 1. I’ve had Brett almost since he came out. Have a ton of cards but just spent $1M 18K to get enough cards for McCutchen. I have $3.7M stubs left and that might enough but there are so many Rookies Veterans etc that just aren’t available in the market. Might be able to get them playing BR but I think I’m not getting Mantle.

Do it, ive never played BR until last weekend.
Did the event for 20 wins and BR for 100 points, took maybe 8 hours, but in total prob got 3.5m worth of stubs and cards. Well worth the grind. Now im done for the year. Can just play ranked and chill with my new squad.

For people that have been playing for months and don't have a single collection done, what are you doing with all the stubs you've gotten for free just playing the game?
I have used some to buy cards that I wanted that were either in packs or online rewards. I probably paid a premium for them by buying them quickly. I bought a couple of the All Star and HR packs but no others.
I have played since release. I play offline only. I have done all of the main programs but only up until the last boss pack. I did about half of the Other Programs.
Mostly I have been pretty frugal with my stubs. I have 1.4 million right now. As a Cardinals fan I will be doing the Finest Collection to get Goldschmidt. At current prices that alone will use about a 3rd of my stubs.
What will I do with the rest (roughly 1 million)? I honestly don't know but I know it is not enough to chase Mantle with.
Ok follow up question, have you completed programs? How many players do you need? Genuinely interested. It seems like at this point in the year if you've completed all the programs even only playing offline you should be really close
Not necessarily. Offline programs Only get you so fat when pretty much the entirety of the allstar, breakout, rookie, veteran, and 2nd half collection are BR or event rewards. If one stops at the boss pack and doesn't sell any cards they would only be about halfway close on Future Stars, FOTF, and Jackie. The only collections you are likely to have from entirely offline play with no flipping or buying cards specifically for collections are POTM , most of topps now, and postseason.
The only real way to be close without specifically preparing for it is to have completed every event and BR program. Combine those 2 with flipping and you have people like me who have every single card(and I've flipped a whole lot less than last year, events is a massive stub maker)
Fair enough. I guess I play enough online to have collected just about every player. I haven't flipped any cards since completing the LS collection 3 weeks into the game. I'm doing a little experiment to see how many stubs you can get from 1,000 packs. I have 663 right now from programs and mini-seasons. Should have 1,000 by the end of next week and 1 million stubs. So if I can sell everything I pull I might be able to hit 5 million stubs and look at getting every player I'm missing.
If you are NMS, don’t flip and strictly play online…then you play ALOT of online to have finished Mantle right away. Some people just don’t grind like that man, seems like you log dozens of hours a week

I don't strictly play online and I flip a lot of cards to finish the LS collection every year. This is basically the only game I play and I don't watch much TV. I started playing BR which helped tremendously to finish collections and I play the events. This year has been super easy to collect. I now have every diamond player in the game. And yes I play probably a dozen hours a week for sure.
-
I most likely won't be going to get Mantle. I got the game and into The Show in June this year. I never played a lot of this game at times and have never played online once.
Although I may be considering Rollins, I don't know if he's worth it. However I am halfway to getting McCutchen and one voucher away from Brett.
-
Ummm...i have all the cards except Finest Josh Donaldson from the "Extreme Program". Even then I'm 2k PXP from getting him. I don't play online, I'm a market machine.

But that's the problem. What if you aren't able to achieve 20 event wins? Not everyone is.
