Just quit if you don’t like what your opponent is doing. I do! I mean, SDS has this game so f’d up, what does a loss really mean anyway?? I started a game last night against a guy who consistently pressed R2 at the same moment each batter. He would then step out. He would then call time. He would then hit pause. Dude wasn’t that good. It was clear he was doing all of this to F with my pitcher mechanism timing. So I quit and I was winning 1-0.
I play this game to enjoy myself and relax….not to put up with this silly nonsense.Rewarding bad behavior reinforces bad behavior. If you want to quit, that's fine, but all you did was encourage your opponent to pull the same nonsense in their next game since it worked. In my experience, the best way to stop an opponent from acting like a fool is to beat them senseless. They usually either stop and focus on the game once they realize they can't get under your skin, or they quit which allows me to match up with someone who isn't 8 years old.

I hold R2 all day if my opponent is quick pitching like a spaz. If someone is doing this to you start pacing your pitches. If your opponent continues to hold the problem is on him.
Question here: How do you define, “quick pitching,” and what do you think the intent behind your opponent doing that is?
Might sound like a dumb question, but there are times that I think my opponent has used R2 to, “slow me down,” however, my pace isn’t done to try and trick or limit my opponent. Instead, I just work fast. I know what I want to pitch, where I want to pitch it, and go. Why wait?
Obviously, in the game I don’t need to look in and get signs from a catcher, go to a rosin bag, etc. Therefore it’s going to be a quicker pace, right?
Is this what you are referring to or something different?
If you get the ball and throw it without ever coming set. If I can time when you are about to start the pinpoint process I'll tap the R2 button to try to mess up your timing. If I am needing a moment to guess where your next pitch will be I will hold the R2 for the time limit. Most of the time I don't press it at all because a lot of players vary their delivery. I don't condone bunt dancing or bunting every at bat or pausing constantly. But if someone is spamming the pitch button I have no qualms with using R2, and if my opponent does it to me, I take it as a sign to slow down a bit.

I can't even bunt, every time I try to do so it is popped up on a sinker or 98 plus fastball. I definitely don't play enough to practice bunting either, so that could be a thing.

I think the point is, if your opponent is holding R2 to slow down your pitching pace, and you continue to deliver as fast as you can, you are in fact the one being toxic.
If I face an opponent like this, obviously I make the adjustment, in the same way that I do when an opponent continues to take an extra step lead off first.
Does the game allow that? Yes. Does that mean you should do it?
Absolutely not. But then, as pointed out, if you want to play like a db, go ahead. It’s on you.
The game establishes when a pitch can be thrown. If the opponent isn’t ready to hit, that would seem to be on them. Again, what are these people needing to do in between pitches that causes them to not be ready?
absolutely mate - you are right - one of the guys replied to you saying to pitch at "85% of the speed allowed" lol
While I think complaining about “quick pitching” is extremely overblown I do agree that some guys are just dbags and spam the pitch button so you can’t pinch hit/run. That can be frustrating but usually I can call time and pause before they do it again
mate you are right too - that is extremely disrespectful to quick pitch on a pinch hit scenario - i would never do this to the opponent on a moral level

Like most things with this game, when playing online, you have to make adjustments. While I don’t agree with everyone in this thread, it seems pretty evident that most of the posters do NOT meet the thread title of “toxic players”.
I just think that everything works better if I allow for a little bit of gray between the black and white. If my opponent wants me to slow down my pitching, I have no problem doing that to some extent. I don’t pitch Uber fast anyway.
That said, if my opponent insists on pitching as fast as possible after I have held R2 for a moment once or twice, I’m not going to spam R2 the rest of the game, because it is not an effective counter and is more likely to distract my hitting more than slow my opponent down.
Now with the taking an extra step lead, I will counter by going into holding the runner mode. More often than not, this results in catching the runner at 2, often on a pickoff.
Play the game you want, but you don’t HAVE to be a db to win and have fun.
.02 cents worth.

Hmm…
And you’re saying the pitcher is in the wrong here? Not you?
Totally push back if I’m bat S crazy here, but a batter…trying to simply guess when I’m pressing pitch button…trying to game that by pressing R2 to mess me up…
Ummm… who is in the wrong here?

They're out in full force tonight.
Two Event games once I got my MA Players.
Both opponents held R2 after EVERY pitch, bunt danced, tried taking extra steps, paused and unpaused when pitching (especially when my pitcher was up to bat), among other things.
While not completely toxic; one even brought out 3 starters as relief pitchers.

I’m sick of playing dudes that hold r2, back out constantly, pause every other pitch, bunt chees to get runs with Pujols etc. if you can’t hit gtfo…. Take your l and learn to hit….. if you hav to bunt with Pujols or Ortiz or whoever to get runs, you need to take a hike… I’m sick of these toxic players. Ban them or make them play each other, I just played th emits toxic jerkoff I’ve ever played … I won’t name him but I want to… straight trash
I agree 1,000 % but not as much on the cheating/bunting aspect.
Just the toxic atmosphere every game is exhausting. I’m competitive, but it just gets old. The rewards/rank etc make people so toxic.
-R2
-the thing where they throw the ball instead of letting it go around the horn. I use meter button…not possible with that setting…guessing they are on button only?
-Jumping when you fly out
-pause manipulation
-stupid Homerun/strikeout sounds
-Flash pausing when you get a hit like you got lucky.
-Replays
-I know I’m forgetting some….

Sounds should only apply to the home team.

For the first time, today I reported someone for being an [censored]... R2, bunt dance, etc... I've had more than enough of that [censored]... Like I said in my email, most of us are here for a good time, play fair and square but thoses players are here for whatever reasons.... certainly not for playing properly...
I wish there could be some consequences for that kind of BS.... like 24h ban for first offense, 1 week ban for second and 3rd offense you can't play until next edition.... that would clearly calm them down and instead of playing dumb they would actually play the game, get better and enjoy it.... There's no reason for being that stupid.... evreybodys gonna get the rewards anyway if you play... might take you a bit more time but evreybody can get there....

Best solution is to actually review the reports and if the player is found to be toxic put him/her in a special division with all the other toxic players, force them to play each other every time.
-
I remember before DD in the online games they actually had a sportsmanship score or something like that for everyone so you knew whether you were in for a [censored] fest. I don’t remember bunt dancing being much of a thing either but I’m sure some people were doing it. Best thing of all was no outer PCI so pitches below the zone actually got swings and misses unless they were really on it.
