Just curious what’s your approach to setting up your bench players. I used to use 2 pinch runners with speed but I’ve gone away from that I don’t really carry a true pinch runner any more.

Now I use 3 RF I start with Larry Walker but if I see I’m going up against a lefty I’ll bring in Al Kaline, and when they bring in another righty I’ll bring in Ryan Reynolds. I used to do the same with my SS spot but now Banks has a permanent spot there against against any handed pitcher. I also start Napoli at catcher but won’t hesitate to bring in Diego Cortaya off the bench to replace him against a lefty or against a player who likes to steal bases. Napoli sucks at thrown outs in steals cause of his low arm strength.

I also use 1 permanent DH in Frank Thomas. I play RS mainly 9 inning games. I’m sure this strategy isn’t the best idea in 3 inning games as you need a pinch runner in those situations.

I have Al Kaline to bat against lefties, (and sub in defensively in right for Austin Riley who is out of position). Yordan Alvarez as a righty killer. Juan Pierre as a speed option (+ to sub in defensively for Soto in left).
Jackie Robinson as a speed and pinch hitter (Also who can take over 2B so I can move Ernie banks from his out of position there to SS for a defensive replacement for Chipper)

Finally Craig Biggio as a speed option if I need to take out my catcher

Milestone Castellanos and 2nd Half Cruz against LHPs
Takashi Babe and Prime Ortiz against RHPs
FS Garrett Mitchell as a pinch runner/defensive sub

I like a fast team, so a PR isn't needed. I do like the situational hitter though. Buxton and Kaline as my right hitters depending on if I want more speed or raw power. Gimenez as my main lefty. Vidal Brujan and Elly De La Cruz switch. I love using Brujan when someone switches the pitcher right after. I picture them just cursing because they switched out their #1 for a lefty, only to have him switch to a RH batter. With Wagner and Chapman in now, that's not going to be as fun. I had Biggio there instead of Elly for catcher, but, never needed him with Kendall in the lineup.
