How do the different 2-way player "formats" wind up working?
-
What I mean by the heading is:
I've played the "usual" two-way format, the one they give you from the get-go:
Pitch every 5th day in the rotation as a "regular" starter, DH on the days before/after your scheduled start, field the middle two days.
And there's usually a question, relatively early in the career, if you're OK with that - with the middle option being "I still want to pitch but nowhere near as much" alongside the "I don't want to be a two-way anymore".
So how often does the "I still want to pitch but not in the rotation" work out to being?
Alongside that, how does being a relief pitcher work as a two-way? Do you get held out of games in which you might be put in as a reliever? Do you DH then get "moved" to the mound (giving up the DH spot) in save situations?

I find myself "starting every couple of weeks," but have done the relief pitcher. Pitching in the rotation keeps you from fielding as much and I like to do that. Personally, I don't care for the 2 way and am only doing them for the grind. Good xp and rewards until you finish the program.
The relief pitcher makes you not play your position in the game and only do 1-3 innings at a time. Not really worth it if you're just grinding. If you're playing to play it's a nice change of pace.
If you change your mind, they will ask you how you like it a few times a year. So, you can always change back.
