First Event Game…. P5 Randy

Got around to playing the event and faced P5 Randy in the first game. Is this what I should expect playing this event? If so, I might as well hop in Ranked instead.

It’s any player, so lots of Randy, Bobby, Nolan, etc….but you will see some Burnes, Greinke, etc also.

Great way to get better. Plus if you score they will quit

Randy might be one of the best pitchers in The show history. He’s like a taller,nastier version of Chris Sale with outlier and more pitches. People say Sale is glitchy….Randy is even more.

You will get a lot of dbag type behavior where guys pitch Randy every game…..Wish SDS would make it like RS/BR with stamina needing to be reset thru a few games.

Imo using P5 cards at all in event games is lame. I really hope ranked gets a complete overhaul next year just so these losers play there instead. Let's get back to the glory days of events

Could not agree more, anytime I see an event lineup with P5 cards it makes me dig in deeper to beat them. Lame is the word.

I'll admit to using my P5 Randy Johnson for 3 event games tonight, but before you all take out the torches and pitchforks...I was trying to get the Signature Series PXP mission and Glavine got torched 3 games in a row. There aren't a ton of good Signature options out at this point, and I just wanted to get it over with quick. I also used Sutter and Franco out of the pen, and had Minoso, Stargell, and Young in the lineup. Now that I knocked that mission out, Johnson is going back to the farm upstate to frolic in the fields with all the other cards I never use. Maybe he can mentor 99 Griffey Jr.

I’m about 15 games in and surprisingly have not faced randy at all yet and only faced Nolan once. Of the two I’d rather face Randy all day everyday as something about Nolan’s release he’s the only guy with outlier that I just cannot hit no matter what I try. I’ve faced a lot of Burnes with some Greinke mixed in. Weirdest thing was a guy pitched live series Nestor Cortes even though his offense was completely stacked with both Cutch and Brett. Not sure what the thinking of was there.

I’ve played about 30 games. I think I’ve seen Randy maybe 5 times. I’ve seen a pretty good mix really. I did face a guy who was 45-6 with Randy mostly in this event lol

They need to treat it like Ranked. Where you have to play at least 3 games before you can use the same pitcher in back to back games. None of this one and done junk.

Agree with you. Events should be limited with certain cards. Every event this year is use whoever you want. It sucks the fun out of this mode.

Agree with you. Events should be limited with certain cards. Every event this year is use whoever you want. It sucks the fun out of this mode.
Don't get me wrong, the rewards format for events is the best it's ever been. It's just the event restrictions themselves that blow

In my opinion the problem this year is with the Event restrictions which falls completely on SDS. They are all either use whoever you want or Moonshot, which really is use whoever you want other than pitchers. You can't expect the community to police themselves as everyone will have different approaches to how the fill their lineups, with most being the absolute best team they feel like they can put out there.

I don’t have a problem hitting him on All-Star. I won after taking Randy deep with 93 Elias Diaz lol. It’s just kind of lame. He clearly was banking on people quitting immediately when they see him because he wasn’t very good.

Yes, it’s either Randy, Sale or Bobby Miller… majority of road games will be in a setting they figured out to blend the ball with the glare and cheese you to a win

Well to be fair there is only Randy and Matt Brash if you are grinding for Griffey

There are relievers too.
Monthly Munoz is decent, but only has a fastball and slider which can be tough if you are up against a decent opponent. I used him a few times. After that you have a gold with Sewald, and then silvers. Not many top tier options if you're playing online.

So that’s a bit strong from my view. Now I’m only starting my P5 Adley to balance out the roster limit of 95 (since he’s a 91) but as someone who doesn’t play Ranked I should have an opportunity (if I wanted) to play my cards Online which for me is BR or Events. I’m also one of those guys who will be having one of Ryan, Randy or Grayson on the mound (Grayson seems very funky to me out of the stretch) and then Helsley out of the pen. I rotate others but if most people struggle against Outlier then I’ll take advantage of that. If they show me they can hit it, I’ll then mix in others. But I’d be lying to say it isn’t fun to abuse people with Ryan especially. Randy is P5 for me so I only use him as a Lefty matchup guy here.
