Quit telling the player base “hitting is working as intended” during the livestream and actually show us how it is intended to work lol

The main problem is that they are going off community stats and not actually how the game plays. The good players that complain the most hit close to .400 despite the problems and the lower end players are too bad to notice. If they are only looking at community BA, SLG, etc. it is working as intended. I consider myself slightly above average at best and I hit anywhere from .280-.290 AS and HOF. That's what they want. We do need an overhaul of the hitting engine, but it needs to come with making hitting way harder for it to still have semi-realistic gameplay. Newsflash, if the top 50 players get what they want without making hitting borderline impossible for casual players, they are going to have .800-.900 batting averages and 2.000 OPS

They should just do a livestream and show us how they intended it to work… just saying “it’s working as intended” every stream and bringing up “the numbers” is just lazy… I honestly think they’re just saying that because they don’t know how to fix the problem lol

They have actually dove into hitting mechanics in several streams in the past although I am not sure how much that discussion would placate anyone. If I remember correctly one talked about the high, middle and low zones within the PCI and a more recent one talked about early/late swings.

As for the most recent working as intended remark, Ramone mentioned the community stats.

    https://theshow.com/2022-community-stats/?cs-date=JUL+2022

Now, people will question the authenticity of those stats and they could definitely include more detailed stats but they are there to look at.

This right here is why they say it is "playing as intended". They are looking for balance and my assumption is that balance is probably batting averages that fall between .200 and .400 across the board. Not saying that some won't be above or below that, but they want the game where it is most often showing "realistic" batting averages no matter what online mode is being played. You get WS players matching up with people playing for the first time ever in BR and Events games and they don't want someone loading into the game who can't hit to save their life that sees an opponent with .800-.900 averages across the board. It would just result in exponentially more quits than already exist.

I think if they really want input to matter (which I do not think is very high on their list), it will not only take an overhaul of the engine, but an overhaul of how the modes are setup. I am the first to admit I win plenty of games I shouldn't because of the way gameplay is setup and I am also the first to say that I wish input mattered more and that there was not near as much RNGish stuff happening. However, there is no question that it would not be fun consistently meeting up with superior players in BR and Events if input was the only determining factor.

Working as intended = bad players stay in games against good players and good players stay in games against great players. Nothing to do with slugging or batting averages.
