Been playing this game since it came out and was always a directional hitter forever until three years ago.
Switched to zone and did like it but it was difficult to adjust to. Never was able to quite grasp the concept of moving an object to hit another object, just never made sense to me even as a former baseball player.
Was always the guy who struck out 19 times a game, barely could manage two runs a game and hated online play for said reasons.
The other day after watching numerous YouTube videos, reading different tips, almost to the point of quitting because I was getting worse, I saw somebody in this forum mention a point that struck me as very logical.
I never thought of the PCI as your vision or eye, I always thought of it as the bat itself. Once I began to change my thinking and how to place the PCI with this concept I finally started striking out less and hitting better. Now don't get me wrong, I'm no AllStar, I still have my problems, but it was so enlightening to finally read a tip that was so unbelievably helpful.
It just brought the fun back to the game no matter how I play.

I was always directional too, until this year. I'm finally getting comfortable with zone. When I switch back to directional, I don't hit as well, so I too think I'm finally getting it.

I was directional up until this year mainly because they took away guess pitch in Online Rated. I’m really good at picking up pitchers/players tendencies at the plate so I could always guess the right pitch and location but once they took that away I switched to PCI because I felt like I had no control over bat placement anymore.

Took me a solid week of adjusting the PCI settings to my liking but now it’s like I’ve been using it for years. Once you get the hang of it it really is much better than directional. Sad I missed out the last few years.

So when you started swinging thinking it was your eye instead of the bat what did you change?

I use zone analog and do well with off speed below the waste but struggle with fast balls and up in the zone.

I started watching the pitcher and the delivery instead of waiting until the ball was thrown and focusing on the PCI.
It's hard to change your mindset but once you convince yourself that it's your eye and not the bat it makes sense.
It's hard because how you hit in this game. We never hit from a catcher perspective in real life, we were one side or the other so angles are different not straight on so you have to think differently. Once you practice and think that way, it's just different.
