It's OK to check the new pitcher or R2 every once once in a while, but holding R2 before every single pitch is not necessary.

People do it because some people can't overcome it so they gain an advantage by doing it. There is a very simple solution to beat it.... just wait a few seconds before you pitch. I have done it a couple times this year to slow down those that want to quick pitch me. If they took it out... people would complain more about quick pitching. I have no issue with a fast paced game, but pressing to pitch as soon as the game allows it screws me up... so I will counter it with R2 and if they stop I stop too. If you have a lot of games with opponents pressing R2... stop and ask yourself if you are quick pitching, maybe that's why you see it so often. I don't come across many R2 pressers, but also haven't played an online game since the first month and don't quick pitch.

If they are holding it instead of tapping it they are sending you a message, give them some time between pitches

I’ll tap it maybe 2-3x per inning just to check stamina or confidence. I would almost never tap it if there was an option to have it permanently displayed in a corner of the screen or something.

Some people quick pitch and slide step. They get the R2 every time. You bunt because you can't hit or replay a home run, you'll get one or two of them.
Other than that, I don't use it.

I’ve never R2’d in 7 years of playing this game. Once in a great while I will pause to check his pitch repertoire. That’s more important than where he’s pitching you. Most people are predictable anyway.

If they would turn on balks there would be no need for R2. I rarely push R2 BTW.

i had a clown last night in RS do this from the first inning, first pitch

he was 6-0 in RS with Brett and all the top players

i made sure he got spanked so hard to remember that game - i was up 6-0 by the 7th (before he quit out), and made him watch each HR replay, K'd him out as much as possible, really let him eat it

Same here. Pitcher stamina and confidence means quite a bit I'm this game. Maybe they will display it in next year game.

The ONLY times I hold R2 is if my opponent is quick pitching and once I have 2 strikes or when it is a 3-2 count. That way I can see what pitches were thrown, where they were thrown, and his stamina/confidence.

Now at the beginning of a game, before the first pitch, and when a new pitcher comes in; I'll pause the game to see the pitcher's 'card' so I can see what pitches he throws, the amount of Ks he has, and his ERA.

Generally I’m not bothered by R2, bunt dancing and replaying home runs… I know when they get a lead these are the guys that pause find your gamer tag and send you message about how elite they think they are at a video game… At this point I sort laugh at it because it’s the like toxic player play book, and I move on.

Bro I’ve been screaming for them to turn on balks for 5 years. I couldn’t agree with you more but they won’t do it!
