I finally give up. Over the years I’ve hung on and was able to overcome the [censored] and still been top 50(I’ve played a lot). This year, you can’t avoid their pre determined outcomes and fuckery. Game after game I am fighting two things. Countless times this year I’ve jumped up big on someone that can’t hit, and somehow it’s a tie game or they take the lead late. Errors, bad animations, you name it. I pray that sooner rather than later a company comes in and embarrasses the [censored] outta SDS.
They need competition or a hand in their pocket so we can get the gameplay experience we deserve. I try my best to not complain but you are dead on my friend.
Unfortunately all games are reverting to this type of gameplay. Games used to be more competitive before microtransactions became a thing. EA makes over a billion dollars a year off of microtransactions alone. Every gaming company out there wants that kind of revenue, so they tweak the game to allow lesser players a better chance and it keeps them engaged and spending money. You can't really blame EA and SDS... they are businesses trying to make as much money as possible. The best way to make as much money as possible is to keep as many players as possible engaged and not just the good players. For me I just understand what it is and enjoy the games for what they are and it's less stress than expecting a perfect game knowing it's not going to be that.

Spot on. Unfortunately in this point of "video game sports", online competitive mode is slowly vanishing so that everyone playing can get participation medals.. Hopefully one day another company makes an MLB game to force SDS to shake it up

For reference, bottled a 4-0 lead.
Hurts us all
For reference, it’s more of a continuous build up. I’ve blown many leads playing the show for a long time. That never bugs me because I like a good baseball game. This year, it’s just too blatantly obvious what’s going on in game.

Online competitive has way too much RNG. I'm not an RNG conspiracy theorist, but input should matter way more in online competitive than it actually does. That, plus super fielders this year, foul balls ad nauseam, and liners right at fielders. I'm not great in RS (about .600), but I've given up on it for these reasons.

Haha I’ve said the same thing to many, many people. Games uninstalled brotha. Skill means absolutely [censored] in this years game. Not for me
real life over videogames anyday mate you will probably be thankful for your decision - i play so little that it rarely bothers me
That’s what I’m thinking too. It’s not mentally healthy anymore for me. It makes me furious. I played pro ball, and this game has done a lot to keep me apart of the game(in a weird way). But this years version is so off, it’s only hurting me now.
i hear you - one of my neighbours used to play for 3 years St Louis during the Mark Mcguire era - also 2 years as a NY Mets - he is not in the game and we tried to get him in last year - SDS was useless as usual - my take is if you get a MLB baseball card with your picture on it, you should be able to be in the game
If it's any consolation he should be in Out of the Park Baseball

Nice to see someone who has experience in this game have a similar experience. I am no where near as good as you but I have a general idea if I am better than someone after the first inning. Way too much RNG. Because or this I haven't played a single RS game this year. I stick to events and BR (mainly to do the program).
I'm sure there are ways to analyze what is the best balance of RNG and not driving away established players. I hope that balance isn't this years version of the show.

Trust me I know all about it. When I read up on DDA I cringed and thought SDS would never stoop as low as EA. LOL! Money talks. You are 100 percent correct on this. Its just frustrating as a consumer that we get the same copy and paste BS year after year. Unfortunately my obsession for MLB baseball keeps me coming back. I need to find another outlet.

"Participation medals" Thanks great! LOL

Nothing new here. SDS wants realistic results which is counter to skill gap. Its clearly noticeable vs CPU and going to drive H2H players insane. The problem is a good balance of user input and RNG is difficult. If you have no RNG then do card attributes really matter? As many have stated some people want that, but that goes against sim style baseball. Competitive mode was supposed to fix this to some degree, but I honestly don't see it. DD is supposed to be on Competitive, but I still see way too much RNG.
My best advice is if you are going to be upset over a game that you lost. You had better find something else to do, because this won't be your last bad beat.

to be fair, im sure there is a lot of rules for getting in the game and licensing etc.

Thank you for the irrelevant comment. Man that one got me good

Feel your frustration man
Game has been extremely frustrating lately. Hard to convince myself to dive into this new BR program when BR is the worst mode behind Showdown
Gameplay has taken so many steps backward this year. Doubt they try to improve it
-
The last game where stick skills even mattered or worked was 17. (Yes even with the late is great) The snowflake started in 18 and its a runaway avalanche now.

This is true but there are things they could do to improve overall game play. Reducing foul balls and making the player actually put the pci on the ball would go along away.
