Questions from my recent online games
-
So, over the last few games I have had two things I wanted to get an opinion on.
- About on-screen lag. For me 99% of the time my pitching will be fine, but then just before the batter swings it has a quick freeze, then back to regular speed. When I am hitting the pitching is usually normal, but I hit the ball and then there is a short to medium length delay.
Occasionally the ball will have a split-second freeze halfway to the plate. It wreaks havoc on my swing timing and location.
On a couple of hits, I ended up going on to the next base, only to be thrown out easily as I am already halfway there when the lag stops. I have simply stopped pressing the buttons when this happens and that has at least prevented this from happening again. Is the lag on my end or theirs?
- I played a guy who was in his first online game. 0-0 record and all no stats for the entire roster. We were in a minor league ballpark with the backstop extremely close to home plate.
I am not a very good hitter but was able to actually do ok against this guy (further proof it was probably a newb) but every time I got a runner on third, he would intentionally try to bean my guys or was trying to get me to try and score from third, only to be gunned down at home.
Thankfully I didn't try it, and the ball would always bounce off the backstop right into the catcher's glove. None of my guys was very fast that was on, so it would have been suicide. Anyway, after hitting 2 batters in a row, and 3 in two innings the umpire issued a warning to both benches, and 2 innings later he beaned batter number 4 and his pitcher did NOT get ejected.
I am not mad about it but am wondering if this is just a "cut scene" to add some realism to the game or was this a glitch and his guy should have actually been tossed.
Unfortunately, I did everything right up until the 10th inning with two out and a hard grounder got past my first baseman and the winning run scored. Bummer to lose, but my team batting average has graduated from the Mendoza line to the Bellinger line.
