BR question
-
So honestly the only online multiplayer I’ve played this year are the moonshot events and I’ve enjoyed them and have done fairly well. I hear how good the BR program is but I’ve never tried it but would love the card rewards as I go for collections NMS. Is it possible for a H2H beginner to progress the through the BR program at a good pace? Just trying to gage if it’s worth it since I haven’t played a lot online. Thanks all!

It depends how many wins you can get per run. I think you still need like 15 wins or something if you can't complete the single run missions. If you are going 0-2 and not racking up anything with the mission cards other than AB's it will take a while
-
It was the first thing I tried online last year and it can be a lot of fun. Focus on offense and player missions.
-
Agreed with dragon….I’ll regularly get 5-6 wins, and don’t need to finish all player missions.
-
Do missions alone even get you to 100? (I've never really checked tbh). I would 100% recommend focusing on doing player missions. Some of those cards are actually decent to use and there are a lot of free progress points to be claimed.
Best part of BR imo is that everyone is more or less even when it comes to team construction (yes some drafts will be better than others). Key to BR is to know which silvers/bronzes will perform for you. Generally focusing on power for both pitching and offense. Pen should aim to have 3 lefties. Guys with weird deliveries are a plus (Loup, Cishek, Cimber, Rodgers, etc). Pitches that move (sinkers cutters are better than not having them. Splitters/sliders are nice.) I Try to avoid the 2 pitch RPs if I have the luxury (guys with only 4seam/2sean and slider). Guys with glitchy swings (Blackmon, Mondesi, etc) are popular as well.
Being able to string some wins together is going to be important since it will speed it up. Not only are winning multiple games basically a requirement to get enough progress for the single run missions, it also shortens the number of runs required. Hitting 9 wins in a single entry is a good target since its 10 bonus points but I often find myself getting around 6.

Ok thanks for the answers! How would you rate your guys H2H skill? I’m very average at best in the events I’ve played. Can get like 5-6 wins in a event run but then matchup with someone that just destroys. Again I’ve only played moonshot though because I find it very fun.
-
If you're getting 5-6 wins per event, you should be fine. You won't knock out the br program in two hours but it will definitely be achievable.

I think if you can get five or six in an event run you will be fine. I would say just give it a chance and don’t let the entry fee turn you away. You will make it back in rewards really quick. Last year was my first year and I didn’t play much online for the longest time, then there was the “Switch” event and my love of switch hitters pulled me in. I had so much fun with that, that I gave BR a chance and it is now my absolute favorite mode.
Last year I had a lot of nine win runs with BR, but I don’t think I have had one this year, yet I am a better player. I think it has taken me between four and six entries each time this year. If you get a handful of wins each entry, the missions go pretty quick. But don’t let it turn you away if you have a 1-2 or 0-2 run your first entry. I always have one really bad entry and a lot of the time it is my first entry. I think all modes play different and I think sometimes it just takes an entry or two to find my groove. I know some people “redraft” to get the team they want, but there I no need this year with the mission specific rounds. I also never redrafted last year, because some of my best runs were with drafts I thought were bad. I found a lot of cards I really liked that way. I just like rolling with what I get and seeing how many wins I can knock off.
I try and draft players I do well with regardless of the tier of card. For example, I do really well with Grandal, so I will grab any Grandal card that pops up. I also try and draft Bronze starters, silver relievers, gold/diamond hitters, but that obviously varies dependent on mission players and just the dynamics that unfold during a draft. I always try and use a common or bronze for a high speed guy I can put on my bench. I also look for bronze guys that have really good splits versus lefties or righties that I can use for bench bats.
Have fun and let us know how it goes.

If you don't complete any of the missions (player specific and ones that need to be done in one 'run') then you would need to win a out 75 games. Can't remember how many points you get for getting X amount of XP and X amount of a certain stat that will accumulate in multiple 'runs'; but with wins being worth 1 point, 75 wins would get you 75 points and I'm sure those two missions will get you to 100.
But unless you're pulling 5-6 wins a run; you may pay more in entry fees than what you recoup by selling the rewards.
Last year, towards the end, they made wins worth 2 points. So 50 wins, without anything else, gave you the 100pts. That cost you a minimum of 75K (if you won one game per entry).
Try it and if you can't string together some runs where you win at least 5 games per run, or complete some of the missions, than I wanted would wait awhile.

I get what you are saying, but I think most players are going to come away with at least some of the player specific missions. I think I am a pretty average player and it probably takes me 25-30 wins on average.

The good thing is that the Player Missions aren't based on one run. You can get them completed in multiple runs (drafts).
The 12-0 in one run. 9-0 in one run. 4000xp in one run. And the other one run mission will.be that hardest unless you can string together a handful of wins in one run.
Try it and see if you like it.

The stakes are so low. Multiple entries with player missions and PXP milestones, run milestones, etc. You can have a losing record over multiple runs and finish the program no problem.
Best advice, focus on the bronze/silver/gold player missions, never pick a diamond pitcher, don't worry about wins, never quit out.
