Before last roster update 2 weeks ago I had invested in buying 20 Goldschmidt cards. Paid from 1500 to 1520 stubs per card. He didnt go Diamond, But I knew he had to go Diamond with todays roster update. So I kept those 20 & bought an additional 20 ranging me in 1700 to 1720 each.

Here was my mistake & bad judgement call. 1 hour prior to the Roster Update being released. I saw his Buy Now go up to 4800 stubs. which is 300 more than his Quick Sell if he went to an 87 Diamond. I knew guaranteed he will get to atleast an 85 & good chance going to 86. Now 87 I felt would be a stretch. So my immediate thought was to sell them all while his Buy Now was up within that 4800 mark, which dropped down to 4600 buy the time I sold all 40 cards. Even at 4600, after tax is 4140 which was still 390 over his Quick sell at a 86 Diamond which is where I thought he would be upgraded to. Even if by chance he went up to 87 at a 4500 Quick Sell. I was only losing at worst 360 on a portion if them to as little as 180 on a portion of them. However to my freaking surprise & disbelief he goes up to 88 with a Quick Sell of 5500. I lost out on all those potential stubs because I panicked & chose to play it safe thinking I was making the right choice to maximize the amount of stubs that could possibly be made. I still made out ok overall. but I really could have done much better with those 40 cards.

Don't think of it as a mistake, you still made stubs, yeah some were left on the table, but you would have felt worse if you held and he didn't go up

cashed out at a real good value.
cant feel bad for him ending up at 1 k more cause what if also covers him only being an 85 and you would have made 1 k less.

Your logic was sound and this was unexpected. In a similar situation I would’ve done the same thing. Think of the Stubbs you made, not the ones you lost out on.

Our company president has a saying -- there is no such thing as bad profits (I work for a minerals/commodity trading company). You're better off selling and making a profit then speculating and risking losing your [censored] if you're wrong.

Worse thing you can do is buy at a high price thinking prices will continue to climb and lose a ton when the market falls.
