Monthly awards, Big Dog programs broken

I think I figured out what I was doing wrong with April. I played my most recent CPU game with April, May and others mixed when you have to play only with April. So I revamped the squad with April players at every position (except 1B, which doesn't have an April POM) and I'll play that squad next time out.
As for Big Dog showdown, sigh, guess I'll try that one again. I wish I was better at them. Even the easy ones give me problems. I do remember getting through the FOD and the Scherzer showdowns, but otherwise I don't bother. Guess I'll have to here.
The programs are still a bit of a slog, especially the monthly program. You have to earn PXP with all of the Monthly Award players but they slowly reward you those players so that you are almost doing them one at a time instead of stacking your lineup.

use the pitchers for the PXP grind....and yes the hitting one is a slog no matter what, but play 9 inning CPU games and the pitchers should amass 500-700 PXP

If you have the stubs, rent the hitters you don't have and then sell them back for a tiny profit. Just DON'T lock them in on the optional collection. If you do this you won't even need to do the Andre mission.

I stink at all Showdowns too! I hate having to do them. I’m still trying to finish up the April monthly award to get Rizzo and Dawson. I’m stuck at 139, and can’t seem to get those xps needed to get the points. So frustrating! I would just like to get Dawson and Rizzo and be done with April so I can focus on the Big Dog and other programs coming out!
What I did, and it seems to help, is make a squad of just monthly players. That would logically be the best way to get the XP. And it has started to work for me. Slowly but surely, I'll get to Dawson, though not before the Spring program finishes.
And I'm like you on Showdowns. Hate 'em. I saw some tips from @smalltownkid1990 last night though that I'm going to try. He said to work the count. Don't swing at anything because the computer will do its best to walk you. Another tip from the same person was don't swing until you get to two strikes and also get the perk that gives you a boost with two strikes. He also suggested get a fast guy on the bench to pinch run when you get the winning run on base.
Thanks again to @smalltownkid1990. Those suggestions sound worth a try.

And thanks to everyone for the (well almost everyone) for the suggestions on the two programs made in this thread. They have helped.

Been doing just that. Thanks.

I'm serious. If you have a starter and 5 guys in the lineup, it'll go super quickly. Then once you finish, take them out of your lineup and sell the ones you bought. You get them all in non sellable packs anyway so you'll still end up with every POTM. I did this and made about 8k stubs in addition to finishing the program faster.

OK, thanks.

Thanks to all the helpful comments on Showdowns and the grinding POTM for Rizzo. I did complete the Showdown for the Big Dog, and now just have to grind it out for that program. I’m so close with the POTM to just get those 30 pts!
Thanks again! -
