First basemen not covering the bag?

So in ranked, I made a diving stop with my infielder and threw to first but the guy wasn’t covering the bag. Has this happened to anyone before?

That’s because the game knows diving catches are OP, the game didn’t understand you stole what was supposed to be a hit

Haha. True…I’ve certainly been on the wrong end of too many diving infield stops by bronze fielder Corey Seager. His first baseman always covered the bag, though.

Diving catches are crazy this year, you don’t need middle infielders with good range anymore. I’m never on the good side of those catches. I still have to get used to diving early.

I think they deliberately made it that way because they wanted to cut down on how many 9-3 putouts there were in MLBTS 19. Unfortunately that meant shaving some IQ off the first baseman.

I think you’re right, Swampfox. I had no problem with 9-3 putouts, personally. It is risky to have a person with below 30 speed in your lineup..

My favorite mess up so far happened to the AI a couple of days ago. I hit a grounder to SS against the Mariners. The fielder over threw first and the ball hit the dugout wall and bounced out into foul territory behind 1st. The catcher was running to cover first and shifted a bit like he was going after the ball. When he got even with first he stopped and the 1B started running to the ball. after he had taken about 5 steps, he stopped and ran back to first. The 2B who was standing between first and second at the edge of the OF finally ran over and picked up the ball. I just kept running and ended on 3rd and laughed for a bit.

The problem with the 9-3 putouts was they had hitters jogging to first. Now we have to put up with fake baseball of first baseman not even having the foot on the bag. The other day Prince Fielder came off of the bag to catch it.

I’d be happy if they let me choose if I want to jog or sprint to 1st base at least
