Obviously with most of these guys having diamond LS already the population is thin. He's not a lock though.
Also remember that the first POTM will cap at 92-94. Card is free from a program and we don't enjoy seeing every opponent with that player, every game we play.
I like Gausman. K/BB Ratio hasn't been reached this early in a season since 1893 or something.

What do you mean about Gausmans K/Walk ratio? I'm just not sure I'm following because Burnes had 52 strikeouts before issuing a walk last year

It's specific to the first 3 starts... I don't think Burnes had that many K after 3.

I think Ty France is a good call. Keeping it in San Diego I think Hosmer is a possibility as well.

As a fan of Rizzo and his card I'm excited. As a fan of the game, this is not a good pick. There were several players far better than Rizzo this last month and many of them may never get a high diamond unless they keep it up: Logan Gilbert, Pablo Lopez, Ty France, CJ Cron, JP Crawford, Eric Hosmer and on and on.
Rizzo is hitting .242.

Oh for sure. I like Rizzo so I'll enjoy the card. But he most certainly wasn't the best player of the month or even in the top 10.

Did they really ignore 3 out of 4 of the players who won the actual April Awards. While I did not expect cards for Arenado or J-Ram based on their live card ratings they could have at least thrown a moment in there for them. If I am not mistaken we had two Rizzo moments added.

If they picked JRam, he'd basically be getting a duplicate of his LS card. Same reason they didn't pick Arenado or Machado. Of course JRam and Nado were the best players of the month, but they already have 90+ diamond cards and the first POTM is getting a 92.

Jose Ramirez was never going to get a card. Neither was Arenado. Their live cards are already 90+ at this point. There were a other choices above Rizzo but most of them were already Diamonds (Arenodo, J-Ram, Trout, Lindor) or have diamond FOTF cards (Edman, Franco).
And lets face it people love power in this game, hence Rizzo got the nod.
