People who think that EA would in anyway make a competent game are just dreaming.
They can't get their billion dollar franchises in Madden and Fifa to not have bugs, inconsistent gameplay and exploits.
But suddenly they will get it all together?
I mean they just bought out someone else’s game that was pretty popular with fake teams and players.
Right, but it's not a very big game, doesn't really have microtransactions, EA doesn't really have a reason to ruin it, so comparing super mega baseball to whatever MLB game EA would made isn't even a remotely close comparision
You really don’t believe EA bought that game with the intention of using the engine to make a Major League Baseball game.
Just like The Show would stay on PS forever and SDS would never sell out and bring the game over to Xbox? You were probably one of those guys I’m guessing.
I was thinking the same thing about his comment. If EA bought the game to use certain aspects from it…they would greatly enhance it before releasing it. That’s just common sense with this game as a competitor.

I feel like SDS has conceded MLB will never be a popular esport title so they kind of made it accessible for everyone.
Not gonna lie they probably are correct.

The only thing EA has to do is;
Good graphics - Hitting that makes sense - Use real players
If they did just those 3 things, this game would have a real competitor.

Just decided to look at EA Play on Xbox and noticed. Looks like EA bought out Super Mega……
Thanks for the year old news update.
-
They actually acquired the franchise last year around this time. Nothing changed.

If they just did those three things their game wouldn’t be well received. They would still have a long way to go to keep people coming back.

Competition is good for all of us, you can't convince me otherwise. If the EA game is trash it may only be a minor good thing, but if it is reasonably competitive it should drive SDS a bit more than what they have been doing.
-
If you guys really think EA making a baseball game would make any difference on this game at all you are on something. NBA 2k has had direct competition from EA for years. Not only has EA cancelled NBA live twice, but 2K wasn't any better because of it.

Except they didn’t sell out, MLB forced them to expand to other consoles as a first party game.
I’m guessing if EA gets MLB rights to SMB, it’ll still be niche/portable game like RBI. There’s no money to be made from a fully-licensed baseball sim, or they or 2K would still be there.
-
This should be a little scary for SDS… just because the hitting AND pitching on SMB feels good. The engine probably is workable for a AAA baseball title.
Along with that, they make the EGO rating system (sliders/difficulty/balance) work to where it doesn’t feel too scripted or random. That is that games way to adjust difficulty and balance the competition online, but it doesn’t feel cheap or like you get cheated by RNG. The gameplay still feels realistic even though there is obvious slider tuning represented by the ego rating.
