Thoughts on RTTS?
-
I'm curious about your guy's thoughts on RTTS so far? I have only played about 8 games as a hitter on Legendary and the hitting feels much better this year. Every hit isn't a pop up.
I used Xbox game pass because I was hesitate after last year debacle with RTTS IMO as a strictly RTTS gamer.
Using directional hitting/buttons MVP Baseball style.

I think my only real gripe is that despite all the talk about "player choice" in their pre-launch marketing the archetype changes actually give you less freedom than last year. Instead of essentially picking primary, secondary, etc. attributes for your player you just get two attributes that get any points at all from the program and the rest you can only be average in. It was nice to be able to prioritize how much I care about speed vs. fielding vs. hitting but now I feel like each position kind of just has its one or two viable archetypes before you load up on perks and equipment. Two-way is especially brutal since it's only one attribute on each side.
Otherwise I don't really feel many changes from last year. I love perfect throws to all bases from the outfield and many of the new tagging animations are way more efficient. Still glad I can skip all the Chris Russo segments.

Is it just me or do the ai batters when (you’re on base) always either strike out, pop it up or ground out weekly? I haven’t really played rtts in a few years, I have 30 hits in ~110 at bats.. so not a huge sample size. But I only have 3 runs scored (I have 2 HR). I believe my only run scored was on a weak groundout as well. Maybe it’s just too short of a sample size, but law of averages say I probably should have scored more

There no point in the mode at all. It lacks the one reason why you would want to play it - a good story.
If it had a good story with cut-scenes and a plot etc. (like the story of YOU becoming a ball-player) it would be worth it.
As is, it's just used to grind a CAP to use in DD - nothing more. -
I agree on the story plain and boring like the other years. Would be nice to have some clot with the GM to convince them to sign a top FA. I think they allowed it in MLB 2K series. I just remember playing 2020 and getting IBB all the time until they signed Soler to hit behind me as protection.

I don't understand why not implement what they have already to help RTTS. For example, in Franchise, after every game, there is a breakdown of your game and special highlights. I got a no-hitter and they went nuts over it. That seems it would be easy to implement because it is there already. If there was a dialog that acknowledged what you did in your previous game. I got a no-hitter in RTTS and the next game I pitched, nothing. In fact, they said I struggled:) I win rookie of the year & gold glove and no mention of it the next year or other awards. How about an acknowledgment of big games. Also, why in the world would they allow trades, of no value, with top players in the first few months? Yes, it is a very boring story line but I still love RTTS for the challenge. Setting up a player in Franchise just isn't the same. So, RTTS really needs some love from the designers but my point is that a lot of changes that could be implemented are already built into the game with Franchise & March to October dialog.

It blows my mind that it’s so boring and stale while still having cut scenes with Ken freaking Griffey freaking Jr. I feel like anyone commenting could come up with something more engaging.
For example on the previous comment about NOT getting recognition for “no hitters” and any other awesome performances. Why not have the cut scenes with Legends after things like THAT and not just random.
Your playing AAA ball, you throw a no hitter and after the game Ken Griffey (who could be there scouting, watching his nephew, his car broke down, who the F cares) comes up to you in the parking lot and he says “Wow great game kid, glad you weren’t pitching back in my day”….how is that not better then the same generic cut scenes with the same background, the same headphones….I mean You paid these guys to do this stuff, you should have paid someone to creatively direct the story, it’s been the same Adobe software narrator for years. I thought that was a covid thing, he’s just staying on as the voice of RTTS because he’s free?
Also why is Chris Russo spit yelling at me because I broke a record? They didn’t even mention it. Context, there is non, again just random cut scenes.

Please no story line i hate that, I wanna create my own story
They should ban the archetype and just let u adjust what u want

2 way is so much worse this year. Last year when I became a diamond I was rated in the high 80's (89). This year when I became a diamond I was 72 3rd baseman and 76 pitcher. Even now I'm still only a 76 3rd baseman and 82 pitcher. Shouldn't even be allowed to use Diamond archetype and perks and not atleast be a diamond rating.

I’m just grinding. Hitting .880 or so.
-
I'm grinding on Legendary and basically skipping all the cut scenes because right off the bat it was useless.
I think what I like most about RTTS is it's hella hard to win a championship. As 1 player there's only so much you can do.
I do wish I could get more control of roster decisions, lineup card, and rotation. Being a 99 pitcher I think I'm good to pitch on 3 days rest when we need it in the playoffs.

Its garbage. it's extremely unrealistic and boring. The who perk system is dumb as hell. No interviews, no agent, no nothing. Its simply playing game after game trying to get AB, hits, stolen bases etc to level your perk points or whatever you want to call them.
