Baserunning?

Is something wrong with baserunning? Playing a mini seasons game and tried to have a runner on third tag up and score on a fly ball by moving joystick to third and press X. Runner didn’t advance. This happened twice.

i would just use L1 to tag up and then select the runner, it works better imo

Do yourself a favour and switch to classic baserunning to use the d-pad and buttons. Button to select the runner, d-pad to choose its destination.
To tag up, press button to select a runner (eg square for runner on 3rd), wait for catch, then press d-pad (eg down for home) to send them. Never have baserunning problem again.
