Xbox Gamepass Early Access Package insanely overpriced
-
For those that don't want to go back and read the actual complaint, here is the summary.
The complaint is about the pricing on the Gamepass Early Access PricePackage includes
($20) = 10 show packs (1 pack = 1k stubs) + 10k Stubs I can go to The Show store and buy 24k stubs for $20 after release so value is less
($15) = Early Access + 2 Gold Choice Pack + 1 Ballplayer Pack + Double Daily login rewards (Value based on $70 version benefits vs $85 benefits, missing the Diamond player pack so again value a little lessThat is a total of $35 using SDS own valuation of each item. The price of the Package is $50, the question is, What is the extra $15 for?

Maybe it's priced high intentionally to give a bit of an advantage to PS customers. After all, xbox customers get it for free on gamepass and that's a bad look considering it was a PS exclusive for so long.
I'm also trying to figure out how $35 vs $50 is "insanely overpriced". I think me and OP have very different definitions of "insane".

Not sure how charging xbox users more helps PS players,
- gamepass is not free,
- the game is not part of the package so the cost of the game really does not apply.
- $50 is 40% (almost double) more than $35, to me that is insane, to you maybe not, not gonna argue that point as it is personal opinion.

Xbox players have to pay a premium to get the early access that PS players get. Plus, your general argument that PS players get an add-on for $35 while it costs $50 for xbox players does seem to be an advantage for PS players.
I never tried to argue right or wrong, just providing...honestly a simple guess...at why they might have priced it that way. I personally like that they are charging xbox players a premium considering they get the game as part of gamepass which feels wrong to me. That's definitely much more of an advantage than the $35 vs $50 advantage PS players get on the early access.
-
Back to your original point. SDS can charge what they want for the early access for xbox. If xbox customers think it's unfair and/or don't want to pay the $50, they can opt to not get the early access and be 4 days behind all the early access people. Just like as a PS player, if I think it's unfair that I have to pay $70 for the base version of a game that is given to xbox players for free as part of gamepass...I can choose not to buy the game or I can suck it up and pay $70 for the game. It's really that simple and I'm surprised it has warranted so much pushback from you.

I never said anything about PS players having to pay anything. PS/Switch was never a part of my comment and was introduced by other people.
I simply calculated what they were giving in the gamepass package, based on xbox pricing, and want to know why there is an extra $15 charge.
You can be happy we are getting charged more for this package, in the end your life will not be better or worse whether the package be $35 or $50, I understand you are upset that PS does not have a similar program. Nothing wrong with that.
In my mind none of that is a reason I can't ask the question/have a complaint about the pricing and what that extra $15 is for.
My personal opinion on why there is an extra $15 is very similar to what you say, they don't think gamepass users are in the same boat as purchasing the game, they don't think early access should be given to those who didn't pay the purchase price of the game, therfore if you want early access you need to make up the difference between gamepass price and purchase price. If I am making up the difference between the rental (gamepass) version of the game and the ownership version, then I should be given ownership. Even though gamepass looks free developers get revenue for being on gamepass, it might not equal the same as if all the users purchased the game but they get something. Purchasing the gamepass early access package does not erase that revenue. I do not know there exact deal with microsoft for being on gamepass, so cannot get into details.

Yes, and I am choosing not to buy it, the only pushback has been in response to peoples comments that don't apply to the original question. I do not disagree with any of the statements you just made, they can charge what they want and I can chose to buy it or not buy it. Am I not allowed to question and point out that there is a $15 unaccounted for in the price?
Again, gamepass is not free, it might be a discounted cost per game, but the subscriber pays money and the developer makes money (perhaps not as much as selling the game direct) Sony is very unhappy that MLB wanted this game to be multiplatform, maybe the solution would be to give PS players more perks for their money, not sure. Everything I have said and am complaining about has to do with the Xbox universe and Xbox pricing. I don't understand how the solution of screwing PS users and Screwing Xbox users is somehow the better outcome then satisfying both communities.
Sony is the one screwing you by accepting a cheaper price per game for one system and not aligning the price on their system. Or at least compensating via perks for the higher price

Sure go ahead, SDS isn't stupid I'm sure they are well aware they are charging a premium for this upgrade. It feels intentional because it's super simple to do a comparison as you have and realize it's at least $15 more than the price difference between standard and deluxe on PS. Trying to extract a premium from xbox users for a first-party previously PS exclusive...and if an xbox user doesn't want to pay the premium then PS users get the early access and incentives for a pretty steep discount compared to xbox users. From that perspective it's viewed positively for PS users.

All over $15 dollars lmao. I’ll Venmo you 20

Sweet Jesus, this thread went off the rails...
Can we all at least agree that $50 without a SINGLE diamond pack is a little sad? You get two golds that probably won't even be on your bench within a week, and a bunch of common and bronze garbage from the 10 Show packs. You can all spend your money however you want, but I still think there is a football field sized middle ground here they could have ventured into...

I agree here. If SDS is intent on screwing over xbox users for early access, at least give them the same package as the deluxe edition people are getting.

I don’t think the intent is to screw over people, just to drive them to buy the $85 or $100 versions of the game. Which at least worked on me, as I’m getting the DD on Xbox, just like I did last year. In my opinion, it’s just a bad look charging $50 for so little, when other games in similar situations allow upgrades to their deluxe versions for just the price difference between standard and deluxe.
If this exact package was $25-30, I doubt anyone would complain and a bunch of people who don’t care about Diamond Dynasty would pay it just to play early. Then it gives people like myself who enjoys Diamond Dynasty a compelling decision between getting the DD or MVP versions or getting this package and buying some stubs to offset not getting any bonus cards.

Guys, keep it simple... I made the move from PS to Xbox like two days after they announced the game for free in Gamepass (last year) and was thinking about the risk if they were removing the game after few months. The game is there and after 3 or 4 months after launch I stopped playing it. I would love to start playing this Friday, but I won't waste +12 euros per day until official release, specially with the experience of the servers being a big pile of those first days... Don't think about the rewards when you can have a great competitive team by just playing and giving you a better experience by assembling your team that way. I was a PS user, and I couldn't be happier that I didn't buy the PS5 because PS Plus is invisible against Gamepass. I will spend 13 euros per the whole library of games and will compete with all of you with the same rights as i "owned" the game. Maybe they do retire the game from gamepass, but by that point, I don't think I would be playing it.

Love it anytime someone doesn’t agree with agenda it’s a troll. Xbox users getting game at a fraction of price for second year in a row and long time ps users paying full price. Too cheap wait until the 5th pretty simple
"stop complaining" is not a rebuttal, its an attempt to shutdown a conversation. Also I uh
...bought the deluxe edition $100 ain't cheap hahaha. You can disagree and at least contribute to a conversation. Sorry Sony doesn't provide a game service -- gamepass is awesome.
I never said stop complaining. I don’t think you understand how quotations work.
Not quoting you, good attempt at an inference though. And again, the game is not free, it is apart of a subscription. That is not a issue of comprehension, its an issue of logic -- I do not like your poor logic.
Please, go back to your bridge.
You literally used quotes. How can my logic be lacking while stating a fact?

100 is cheap to some of us if this is the only game we play year round. Again PS5 games are 70. News alert gaming can be expensive
$100 is nothing if you’re a moderately successful human.
God you're cool
You don’t have to be cool when you have money.

Sony was happy about the inclusion of Xbox (including gamepass) after the financials came in, PS users have a right to feel screwed, all of that is a separate issue to what I think Rodol1551 summed up very well
" it’s just a bad look charging $50 for so little, when other games in similar situations allow upgrades to their deluxe versions for just the price difference between standard and deluxe.
If this exact package was $25-30, I doubt anyone would complain"
I would add that if the bundle included ownership of the game in the $50 package, I still wouldn't buy it, but I would understand what they are insinuating by charging the extra $15
-
I'm so used to Xbox people saying they got the game for free!! So in going with that theory you're only paying for the standard version!! IJS
-
I understand why people think the game is free on gamepass, the flow of money is way more convoluted and there is no direct wallet from consumer to SDS. But the fact is SDS gets paid for being on gamepass, the exact deal is not public info but xbox has explained generally what some of there deals have been, as a gamepass user we pay into a general shared pool of money, I am sure part of this money goes direct to microsoft as profit, and the other portion goes towards deals with publishers to secure games and maintain value for the gamepass subscirber, just because I am not directly paying SDS does not mean SDS is not getting paid for the game. and like I said maybe they accepted an amount that comes out to less per game then if it was purchased outside of gamepass. They are not giving this product away, they are making a lot of money and Sony even said they were happy about the decision after seeing their quarterly earnings report.

The same one I used to buy as a PS user… spending money for in game rewards in MLB just doesn’t pay off… if they release those 99 cards later in the game to keep the motivation of competing and playing for the better cards… maybe. Will see you all the 5th

It's not a bad look, you're just mad because you want it for $25-30 instead of paying the $50 they are asking for. And SDS clearly doesn't mind having the upgrade cost be $25/30 for ps users as they've shown with their pricing...like i've said this feels intentional and intended to be a negative for xbox users. Either a lot of people will pay it, which good for SDS...or a lot of people won't and PS users will have a 4 day headstart on most xbox users...good for PS users.
